Tips for New Players!:

Been playing since 2G, and had hundreds of hours on Rise here
are some great tips.
* When ur riding ur palamute, u can use potions, sharpen ur wep, craft,
etc!!! u can even call ur doggy for a ride in battle. use this when
ur in a pinch!!
* When riding your palamute u can hold r1, and hit L2 to do a sprint.
* Wire bug allows u to do an air recovery, but u will not be invincible
anymore!! if a monster knocks u down u can use an air recovery to move
out of the way also (for example when rajang grabs and throws u on the
ground and ur char is laying there)
* Yes u can use your wirebug for mobility, and jump over monsters and
attacks!!
* Great wire bugs make traversing the map a lot faster
* The current game does not require u to have over 150 hp in high rank,
or to max out your song birds!! So you dont have to spend a lot of time
looking for these. **Food bonus doesnt go away when u die.
* When u attack monsters and u see a blue aura around your damage #s thats
counted as an aerial attack, and will build the meter towards a monster
mount.
* Optimal moves while mounted on a monster (solo) is to – ride it to
another area with a different monster, damage the other monster with
3 attacks, then ram it into the other monster (the other monster has
not have been in a mountable state). Ride the other monster, attack
3 times, fill the gauge, do the special attack.. then BOOM u get 6
shinies.
* Dont sell any HR monster parts u will need them later, Trust me. Also
try to save ur Zenny u will need every bit when starting out. 2nd
resource points are easy to get The owls nest will max out every 5
quests (excluding gathering quests) in the buddy training zone, climb
the big tree. It can give u eggs (to sell for $), Lagniapple apples to
boost mercs-traning-boats, etc… BTW your training room is beyond the
buddy zone.
* Capturing monsters will not yield you a guarantee 3 pieces like in
past games. it will be random from 2-3. capturing will be faster but
has the above possible penalty.
* If ur looking for that rare 1%er, carve!!
* The dango special skill will rotate between money, exp, etc..
* You can eat in your tent and switch armors.
* The gathering cat is one of the best due to pilfer skill, 2 gathering
cat has diminishing returns but still works – you can only steal up to
the slotted max and over a long time, while testing 2 cats they do
producing more items, but i * like the speed of the palamute and value
that over the mats. but you play how u want.
* Also, note “carves” percentage comes from tails as well, so utilize the
side table to determine what parts to break and how to efficiently get
rare mats.
How to Change Hunter’s Name:
----------------------------
Written by Draconic Creature
For MONSTER HUNTER RISE players, if you want to change your hunter’s name, this
guide will show you a method to do it, let’s check out how.
-=Note=-
I cannot stress this enough, KEEP THE BACKUP OF YOUR MAIN SAVE IN CASE SOMETHING
GOES WRONG! I can’t guarantee that these steps are foolproof, this is just as much
guidance as I can give on this process. This is pretty low-risk, but the precaution
is a smart thing to do regardless.
-=How to Change Your Hunter’s Name=-
Driven by some frustration about the inability to change my character’s name, I
went looking for some information on how to do so and stumbled on how to do so
precisely. I’ll list the steps below for anyone who might also want to change
their character’s name. Perhaps it’ll be easier in the future with the use of a
save editor, but for now this is the method that I know of and that works.
Fair warning though, it will most likely break your in-game photography album
pictures, so if those are important to you, you might want to try to export them
in some way.
Step 1: Navigate to the game’s save data, which you can find an example link for
below of where it was located for me, with my ID scrubbed of course, but unless
you’re sharing the computer with multiple other steam users, there should only be
one there. The string of numbers after the steam user ID is the ID for the game i
tself, which is a static constant across all users.
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[user ID here,
it’s unique for every Steam-user]\1446780\remote\win64_save”
Step 2: Create a backup of this folder, the easiest method of it is to simply
copy the entire “Win64_save” folder onto your desktop, or moving it there outright,
as this could make the next step slightly easier or let you skip it outright.
Step 3:Delete or remove the “win64_save” folder. Make sure you have a backup as,
if you delete the thing and emptied the trash can without a backup, your progress
is now gone basically forever, unless steam’s save backups are enabled and… honestly
I’m not sure how to make them install the saves again, maybe validate the files?
Either way, don’t take any chances.
Step 4: Create a new save and character. Yup, this is exactly what it sounds like.
Customise the character to your heart’s content, including giving it the desired
name, the cat and dog doesn’t matter as those will be overwritten by the last steps
of the game.
Step 5: Save and exit the game as soon as possible, then COPY the “data001Slot.bin”
file from your backup into the game’s save-files on Steam and reboot the game. Don’t
worry about the various files with SS1 as part of the file name, those are the album
photos.
To explain step 5 succinctly, “data00-1.bin” seems to store the hunter’s customisation
options, including name, while “data001Slot.bin” stores everything your hunter has
done and owns, including gear, items, item chest contents, weapons, palamutes and
palicos.
Enjoy, and for those who might be curious about where I found this and how it was
originally written, I will copy-paste it below.
1.Backup your save
2.Delete save in system
3.Start a new game,name your character and make a new face.Cat and Dog doesn’t
matter,they will be covered
4.Backup your new save
5.Put data001Slot.bin from your first save into second one, this is your
character’s game data including every thing without your hunter information
6.Restore your second save and enjoy
Might be a little confusing cause i am not a English user but you got this.
Tips to Use Great Sword:
------------------------
Understanding the weapon style/gameplay is your priority, GS has something very
different from other weapons due to it’s slower animation in mhr though u will
get used to it in no time once you have enough practice.
To start off using GS optimally, your first step is by using first few minutes
to understand/read what’s the monster tells, when in enraged mode they have
different combo/extended combo so take a bit of the time to read it instead of
straight away bonking.
GS first and foremost, monster knowledge is your advantage due to how slow the
weapon is you need a good opening to do the most damaging move which is True
Charged Slash(TCS). In order to do so you must have the monster knowledge u up
against in the hunt taking all big opening as to unleash it.
Some monsters have lesser opening or the window just smaller than the others so
in this case u can do draw slash and sheath and get back to position rinse and
repeat until there is enough opening to do TCS once again.
Try not to whiff cuz whiffing for GS is a big time loss, now im going to go into
how to quickly into tcs. First in GS kit you have tackle which provides hyper
armor and dmg reduction tanking attack beware of tanking attack that big enough
that can cart you or locked u into tackle cycle this means you ned to tackle
consecutively otherwise the follow up wil take big chunk of your hp or in which
case you able to take second hit just let it knock you down instead of tanking
if there is another follow up for the third. Tackle is one of your arsenal to
quickly transition into TCS the combo can be in multiple ways.
The first way is draw slash-tackle-tcs, while unsheath you roll into tackle/
tackles into tcs, or u can roll into tackle -side slap into tackle/tackles again
into tcs. The last combo is either to repostion yourself if u find yourself not
close enough to monster/when you want to simply move further a bit to avoid
incoming attack. This is the basic of GS without any silkbind skills for GS
everything is about timing and positioning.
There is one more combo and easiest and safest to use but this needs you to
practice, while u in sheath mode use block then tackle this will bring you
into strong charged slash immediately then if you want to go into TCS early
just tackle again. This is by far the fastest way to transition into TCS but
this needs practice and muscle memory otherwise you wilbe not using it much.
Guard tackle is a great way to just ignore a monsters attack without the risk
of carting, it just doesn’t cover ss much distance as tackle, and trades a bit
of sharpness instead. Follow with true charge slash for big chunky damage, or
if you know a monster likes to combo, rage slash for that unga bunga counter
damage when the monster hits you during the charge of rage slash. Strongarm
stance, assuming you have sunbreak and are that far, is just a true counter
move. Sunbreak also introduced surge slash combo. Considerably lower damage,
but makes the greatsword far far quickly. Your chances of using rage or true
charge though drop to need zero if doing surge slash combo though in my
experience.
