How to Make War Fan Useful:
---------------------------
Higher stacks of War Fan skill are going to increase your damage output even
further, you can also take Samurai Spirit (more damage dealt with more weapons
of the same type equipped), and equip fans in all 4 weapon slots. Add to that
Enhanced ATK, set up Flame skill with Guidance, watch everything on screen melt
from being chased by 30 fireballs.
Wind skills on fans are also really good (they’re good in general) since they
can instantly CC and throw around most generals.
Slap a bunch of guidance, defense break, expand, and samidare on it, like 2 or
3 guidance gets the orbs homing, you want at least one point in this. Getting
the samidare to 8 followed by expand to 8 is your best bet after allocating a
couple points to both guidance and defense break to really make war fan shine.
If you need an extra point to slot in an elemental skill you can take points
from expand.
Equipping two War Fans (or Guns) doubles the amount of projectiles, but also
doubles the SP cost of the skill. It’s a good way to increase DPS if you have
enough SP. You’ll want to get War Fan 8 and Sumidare 8 as soon as possible
(while still keeping some Guidance). With two War Fans, you can shoot 16
projectiles that can each hit 9 times. Evil is the best element for clearing
maps, but it is resisted by the Bosses. You also want at least 1 Defense Break,
so that your shots will actually hit Generals.
You should only use Evil 1. Evil 2 increases the chance that the SP drain will
trigger against Generals, which is basically useless.
War Fan and Gun work almost exactly the same. War Fan has slower start-up to
it’s attacks, and Gun has much longer recovery (but can shoot faster than War
Fan when used as a Barrage).
How to Beat Every Boss (Boss-Melter):
-------------------------------------
The key elements are spear as the weapon, and I prefer a single spear and not
two, and then the action built as follows (It’s currently designed for my level,
but it’s trivial to adjust it for your level):
* Reverse Slice 16
* Expand 8
* Samidare 8
* Wave 2
* Storm 1
The important elements are Reverse Slice, which you want to get to at least 8
as soon as possible.
Samidare at least one or two. Wave at least one. And lastly Storm one. The other
thing you will probably want is Storm Resistance on one of your gear pieces so
that you don’t go spinning out of control. It’s not strictly necessary but I
always wear it.
Not only does this melt bosses, it clears out any enemy around you and devastates
generals. It’s the bread and butter. It doesn’t have as much reach as the war fan
or gun evil guided bolt which extends beyond the screen, but it’s much faster to
activate and keeps you mobile. And it does great single target damage too. The
purpose of Storm is to pull in enemies to the whirl.
Now that I’ve developed quite a bit of an SP pool I might experiment with dropping
Storm so I can put something better in place of the gear giving Storm Resistance.
I imagine this would greatly improve the damage potential but hurt its clearing
ability, which is fine as long as you have another skill to clear with (like the
war fan evil guided bolt skill which I use as the left hand weapon).
Edit: After some testing, I am correct that while damage goes up a bunch by being
able to equip another damage boosting gear passive, the lack of storm greatly
reduces the clearing ability. So it’s fine to do if you want more damage, but keep
in mind you will probably want another skill designed to clear away a whole screen
of trash enemies. The one I mentioned earlier does just fine at that. But this
skill excels at deleting generals and bosses.
Tips for Beating Orochi:
------------------------
You can brute force it by taking damage upgrade passives, upgrading your equipment
to +5, and putting Samidare 8 on your attack. You don’t need to worry about
elements if you do it this way.
At the blacksmith. Whenever you have him work on an item, there is a chance to
increase the level of it.
Items with No Passive have a high chance to increase an item’s level (and won’t
mess up your build by changing the current passive). This makes items without a
passive some of the best drops you can get.
When equipped as armor, upgraded items give bonus defense and speed. When equipped
as a weapon or sub weapon, upgraded items give bonus damage.
Slash Down + Samidare + Expand. Just mash as many of those 3 into a single attack
as you can. No need to bother with elements, combos, or anything else. It will
explode Orochi heads in a few swings each.
The only thing you need to do re: equipment is get a piece of Samurai Soul on the
weapon type you’re using then make sure that weapon type is equipped in every slot.
That alone is enough to kill just about anything in the game in a single Samidare
8 swing. I spent ~4 hours collecting and upgrading a full set of maxed out gear
(I thought you had to level it up by combining it with the same skill, lol) before
the first time I killed him but it was a big waste of time because you’re going
to trivialize him off of Samurai Soul anyway, regardless of your equipment upgrade
levels.
