CHAPTER 1 - INTRODUCTION
************************
Welcome to my guide for Sam and Max! The crime fighting duo finally get their
own game after having many comics, and having some cameo appearences in some of
the earlier and some later LucasArts adventure games. Steve Purcell was a back
ground drawer for some LucasArts adventure games, and thus got to make Sam and
Max into a game. It's also a very very good game, like all the othe SCUMM games
are. Hope you enjoy the game, and find my guide useful.

CHAPTER 2 - WALKTHROUGH
***********************
I will list all items in CAP letters, and also commands, representing the
picture for it. For example, you use the hand icon to pick something up, ill put
use the HAND with the hole to get the money. Or use the MOUTH with the guy or
whatever. You should be able to figure out what the different icons mean, and
which one im talking about. Here is a list just in case.
TWO FINGERS ICON = WALK TO
EYE ICON = LOOK AT
HAND ICON = PICK UP/TOUCH
MOUTH ICON = TALK TO
USE ICON (hand holding green object) = USE
OFFICE:
After the introduction sequence, you will start inside Sam and Maxs office.
After Sam answers the phone, you will be told to find a bonded street courier or
something like that. After Max comes in, use the HAND with hole at the back wall
to get your MONEY. Then, go to the right, and use the HAND with the sandwich,
but Max will feed the termites with it. Use the HAND With the LIGHT BULB to the
right, inside that small cupboard area, then head out of the office. Use the
HAND with the guy there, then head downstairs. Use the MOUTH with the crazy cat
to the left, and then USE Max with the cat to get your ORDERS. USE the car, and
drive over to any Snuckeys.
SNUCKEYS:
Once you arrive, PICK UP the CUP from the floor thats outside, then enter the
actual shop. Use the HAND with the PECAN FLAVORED CANDIES on the left shelf, and
also with the stuff under the Sam and Max picture. Use the MOUTH with the guy
behind the counter, and buy both things, then ask for a key to the toilet if Max
has already started moaning. If he hasn't, wait until he does, and he will get
the key. Go outside, and wait for him. When he comes back, use the MOUTH with
him, and tell him that you should keep the RASP. After, USE your car, and head
to the Carnival.
CARNIVAL:
Once you arrive, head to the right, and the fire breathing guy will stop you.
USE the ORDERS with him, and he will burn them up. He will let you pass though.
Inside the tent, you will be told that you need to find two of the freaks, one
of them is a bigfoot, and they think he kidnapped the other freak thats missing.
They will give you an all day pass. Use the HAND with BRUNOS SASQUATCH HAIR near
the melting block of ice, and the HAND IN A JAR to the right of the front
entrance. Go out through the back entrance, and go left a bit. USE the whack a
rat game, and hit at least 20 of them out of 40, and hit Max on the head a
couple of times. Once you win, use the HAND with the FLASHLIGHT, then USE the
BLACKLIGHT BULB with the FLASHLIGHT. Go to the left a bit, and use the MOUTH
with the man sitting there. Ask to go on the ride, and when you come off, check
out your inventory. You will of lost all of your stuff, so use the MOUTH with
the guy again, and ask for a claim ticket. He will give you the CLAIM TICKET!
Go back to the front of the freak tent, and go to the right, and go into the
lost and found tent. You will get all of your stuff back, go to the left, and
to the Tunnel of Love. Hop aboard, and when your inside, USE the FLASHLIGHT.
When you see the circuit board, USE Max with it to stop the ride. Now, USE the
bearded guys arm. Go through the door.
Here, use the MOUTH with the mole man, and ask about Bruno. He will tell you a
story for several hours, when he is finished, give him a PECAN FLAVORED CANDY,
and he will give you the CROWBAR, and tell you about how Bruno escaped. After
that, USE the switch next to the door, and head out. Go to the right, past the
whack a rat, and USE the CROWBAR with Trixies caravan door. Inside, USE the blue
box and get the SILT WALKERS COSTUME. USE the pink cabinet and use the HAND with
the SCORECARD on the back of the door to get it. Go outside, leave the carnival
and go to a Snuckeys.
SNUCKEYS:
Head inside, and USE the JAR WITH HAND IN IT with the guy behind the counter,
and then he will open it for you. These guys can open anything you know. Now
look in your inventory, and use the EYE with the FISH HEAD MAGNET, and go to the
World of Fish.
WORLD OF FISH:
Here, walk over to the small stand, and use the HAND with the left BUCKET OF
FISH, then watch the helicopter steal some fish. Weird. Leave, and head to Gator
Golf.
GATOR GOLF:
Here, walk to the left, and use the HAND with the GOLF BALL GRABBER, then go to
the right. Watch the cut-scene, and you will now have to try and rescue Max. USE
the BUCKET OF FISH with the BUCKET OF GOLF BALLS, and then use the HAND with one
of the clubs next to you. Basically, you have to click somewhere, and thats
where the fish will go. You will have to target the tails and heads of the
aligators that are out in the water, to make them move. Try to make it so all of
them have made some sort of straight path to where Max is. Once you have done
this right (it's not too hard) Sam will automatically walk across. You can dunk
Max in the tank if you want. USE the door, and Max will come out. You will then
notice there is a door on the actual tank, USE it, and use the HAND with the
SNOWGLOBE, use the EYE with it, and you will have the Mystery Vortex added to
your map. For now, head back, USE the car, and head over to the Worlds Largest
Ball of Twine.
WORLDS LARGEST BALL OF TWINE:
Walk to the right towards the cable cart, and when it comes down, hop on. When
its at the top, go inside the actual restuarant. Here, use the HAND with those
electric wires to the left, with the Binoculars. Walk to the right, and use the
MOUTH with the guy sitting there, and ask about the BENT WRENCH. He will bend
one for you, and give it to you. Now, head out of this place, and go over to the
World of Fish.
WORLD OF FISH:
Now, walk to the left, and you will see a giant plastic fish. USE the BENT
WRENCH with it, then USE it, and then USE Max with it, so your both in. It will
fall into the water, and the guy will fish it out. The helicopter will soon come
and take you away.
WORLDS LARGEST BALL OF TWINE:
Here, once your out, USE Max with that long piece of string on the ball of twine
underneath you. After this, you will have the TWINE in your inventory. Go inside
that small hut, and then USE the GOLF BALL GRABBER, with the HAND, and then with
the FISH HEAD MAGNET. Now, USE that, with the ball of twine, to the right. You
will recieve the RING OF MOOD. Go back outside, and USE your car, or wait for it
to come to you, then go to the Mystery Vortex.
MYSTERY VORTEX:
Once you enter this crazy place, admire the floating furniture, then enter the
building to the right. Inside, USE the mirror. In here, you will have to USE the
little levers coming from the magents, to make you shrink, or grow at different
parts of the house, and make it so your big enough to fit through one of the
four doors. If you do, go through, and you might find another mole man. If you
don't, go try a different combination of colours. You can use only 1 colour, but
your best bet is to mix them up, like only using the left and right magnet, or
using the middle and left magnet and so on. Once you get it right. In the room,
use the MOUTH with the moleman, and ask about Bruno. When he asks, select the
RING OF MOOD, and he will tell you more. Once you have the MOLE POWDER, go back
outside, and go through that door at the back. Here, use the HAND with BRUNOS
SASQUATCH FUR which is to the left, near that block of melting ice. Head out,
and to the Carnival.
CARNIVAL:
Head over to the whack a rat stall, and use the HAND with the LENS. Once you
have it, head over to the WORLDS LARGEST BALL OF TWINE.
WORLDS LARGEST BALL OF TWINE:
Go to the right, walk onto the cable car, and enter the restuarant. When your
inside it, USE the LENS on the Binoculars. USE them, and you have to try and
find Frog Rock. When you think you have found it, you need to stop the rotation,
to do this, press the left or right mouse button until that little needle at the
bottom is facing straight up/is in the middle, and Sam will say what it is. Once
you get it right, head out of here to, guess what, Frog Rock.
FROG ROCK:
Here, USE all three pieces of SASQUATCH HAIRS you have collected with the rock,
then USE the MOLE POWDER on it. After the cut-scene, the sky will say GO TO
BUMPUSVILLE, so do just that.
BUMPUSVILLE:
Walk over to the mansion, and enter. Go to the left, into the next room with
that little cleaning robot inside, and use the HAND with that little portrait
at the back of the room, it's a portrait of John Muir. Now, head back a room,
and go through the door to the far right. You will be inside a bedroom, with a
giant car as a bed. Anyways, use the HAND with GREASY PILLOW, then USE the GOLF
BALL GRABBER with the thick blue book on the book shelf above the doorway. When
the little robot comes, USE him, and the plug the blue wire in, just click on
it. Now, he will go in and set the alarm off. Go into the room next to the bed
room, and USE thee virtual reality helmet. Use the HAND with the sword, and then
try to enter the cave. USE the sword with the dragon, then use the HAND with the
heart to get the KEY. Walk into the hall with the picture of John Muir, then go
into the next room. USE the KEY with that lock to the right, and you will turn
the security system off. After the cut-scene, head for Evelyn Morrisons Savage
Jungle Inn.
EVELYN MORRISONS SAVAGE JUNGLE INN:
Go into the hotel, and use the MOUTH with Evelyn, who is the woman sitting
behind the counter. Ask her about Bigfoots, and Conroy Bumpus, then leave, and
she will give you the BROCHURES. Use the EYE with them, to get two new locations
on your map. Head over to the Celebrity Vegetable Museum.
CELEBRITY VEGETABLE MUSEUM:
Here, walk to the right, and use the HAND with an Eggplant, then USE the JOHN
MUIR PORTRAIT with the woman. Leave, and head for the Dino Bungee National
Memorial.
DINO BUNGEE NATIONAL MEMORIAL:
Walk down the stairs, then go to the left, and find the T-Rex. USE that little
speaker thing to make him talk, then right click when his mouth is open. USE
your TWINE with his mouth. USE Max with the TWINE to get the TOOTH. Now go back
to where the T-Rex was, but instead, carry on to find a mammoth. USE Max with
it to get the MAMMOTH HAIR. Exit here, and go up the path towards the bungees.
Go through the gate, then USE the GOLF BALL GRABBER with the CUP, and USE that
little changing room booth. USE the bungee rope, and then when your near the tar
USE the GOLF BALL GRABBER to get some Tar. Now exit this place, and head over to
the Celebrity Vegetable Museum.
CELEBRITY VEGETABLE MUSEUM:
Use the MOUTH with the woman behind the counter, and ask about your John Muir
Vegetable, and she will say its finished, and give you the JOHN MUIR VEGETABLE.
Exit this place, and head over to Bumpusville.
BUMPUSVILLE:
Head into Conroys Bedroom, and USE the EGGPLANT with the wig in the wall, and
then after the cut-scene, you will have the WIG. USE your car, and head over to
Evelyn Morrisons Savage Jungle Inn.
EVELYN MORRISONS SAVAGE JUNGLE INN:
Go inside the hotel, and USE your RASP with the Bigfoot there. Now, USE the TAR
with the STILT COSTUME, then USE the MAMMOTH HAIR, and the WIG with the STILT
COSTUME, to get your Big Foot costume. USE it, then go into the party. Now, go
through the small door at the back of the room, and use the HAND with the ICE
PICK. Try to go through the door at the back. After the cut-scene, USE the BIG
FOOT COSTUME, and then watch another cut-scene. USE the freezer door, and you
will trap Conroy and that guy with him inside the freezer. After the next scene,
head back into the party, and use the HAND with the WINE BOTTLE. Now exit this
place, and go to the Worlds Largest Ball of Twine.
WORLDS LARGEST BALL OF TWINE:
Go to the right, and ride the cable car up to the restuarant. USE the ICE PICK
with that guy, and he will bend it, and turn it into a corkscrew. USE it with
the WINE BOTTLE to get the CORK. USE the CORK with the SNOW GLOBE. Exit this
place, and head for the Mystery Vortex.
MYSTERY VORTEX:
Here, go right into the building, and head into the shop. USE the Vortex machine
and then USE the SNOWGLOBE with the vortex to suck it all in. Exit this place
and head for Evelyn Morrisons Savage Jungle Inn.
EVELYN MORRISONS SAVAGE JUNGLE INN:
Head through the party, and out back. Go past the totem poles, and to a small
hot tube. USE the SNOWGLOBE, GREASY PILLOW, TOOTH, and the JOHN MUIR VEGETABLE
with the hot tube. CONGRATULATIONS on finishing Sam and Max! Enjoy the ending.

CHAPTER 3 - ITEMS
*****************
This list of items is the list you should get the items in, or at I got the
items in, and where to get them from.
MONEY:
At the Office, use the HAND with the hole at the back wall to get the MONEY.
BLACKLIGHT BULB:
To the right of the Office, its inside that small cupboard like area, use the
HAND to get it.
ORDERS:
Outside of the office, use the MOUTH with the cat, then USE Max with him to get
the ORDERS.
CUP:
Use the HAND with it, its just outside of Snuckeys.
PECAN FLAVORED CANDIES:
They are on the left set of shelves at Snuckey, use the HAND icon with it, and
then use the MOUTH icon with the guy at the counter, and then buy it.
RASP:
When Max starts moaning about needing to go to the toilet at Snuckeys, use the
MOUTH with the guy behind the counter, and ask for the toilet key. Wait outside
for him, and before he goes back inside, use the MOUTH with him, and tell him
that you should keep the RASP.
CARNIVAL PASS:
When you go into the carnival, and are greeted by the owners, they will give you
this item.
BRUNOS SASQUATCH HAIR:
Found lying next to the melted block of ice inside the freak tent at the
Carnival.
HAND IN A JAR:
Found near the front entrance of the freak tent at the Carnival.
FLASHLIGHT:
At the carnival, play the whack a rat game, and hit at least 20 rats, and you
will win a prize, which is the FLASHLIGHT.
CLAIM TICKET:
Ride the CONE OF TRADGEDY, and you will lose all of your carefully collected
junk, use the MOUTH with the guy, and he will give you a CLAIM TICKET.
FISH HEAD MAGNET:
Once you ride the cone of tradgedy, go back to the lost and found with your
CLAIM TICKET and you will get this item.
CROWBAR:
Once your inside the Tunnel of Love and have stopped the ride, and gone through
the small door, use the MOUTH with the mole man, talk to him, then give him a
PECAN FLAVORED CANDY, and he will give you the CROWBAR.
STILT WALKERS COSTUME:
Inside Trixies caravan, USE the blue box in the corner to get this item.
SCORECARD:
Inside Trixies caravan, USE the pink closet, and use the HAND with the SCORECARD
on the back of the door.
HAND:
USE the HAND IN A JAR with one of the Snuckeys guys behind the counter, and they
will open it for you, and you will get the HAND.
BUCKET OF FISH:
At The World of Fish, you can find the BUCKET OF FISH next to the stand, its the
left bucket.
GOLF BALL GRABBER:
At Gator Golf, walk to the left from the entrance, and the GOLF BALL GRABBER is
in the green bin.
BUCKET OF GOLF BALLS:
At Gator Golf, at the hitting range, USE the BUCKET OF FISH with the BUCKET OF
GOLF BALLS to get this item.
BRUNOS SASQUATCH HAIR:
You can find more of this at Gator Golf, when you free Max from the dunker, he
will give you this.
BENT WRENCH:
At the Worlds Largest Ball of Twine, use the MOUTH with the guy to the right,
and ask about the BENT WRENCH, and he will make one and give it to you.
TWINE:
At the Worlds Largest Ball of Twine, enter it by going from the World of Fish
(check the walkthrough for more details) and USE Max with the piece of string
underneath the platform.
THE RING OF MOOD:
USE the GOLF BALL GRABBER, and the HAND and the FISH HEAD MAGNET combined with
the ball of twine, inside the small hut thats more or less underneath it, the
ball of twine is to the right, at the Worlds Largest Ball of Twine.
MOLE POWDER:
At the Mystery Vortex, once you find the mole man (see walkthrough for more
details) give him his RING OF MOOD back, and he will give you the MOLE POWDER.
SASQUATCH HAIR:
Inside the Mystery Vortex, go through the door at the back of the house, and
into the shop. The SASQUATCH HAIR is to the left, at that block of melting ice.
LENS:
At the Carnival, its to the right of the whack a rat stall.
JOHN MUIR PORTRAIT:
At Bumpusville, at the mansion entrance, go to the left, and the portrait is on
the back wall.
ROBOT INSTRUCTION MANUAL:
Inside the bedroom at Bumpusville, USE the GOLF BALL GRABBER with the big blue
book on the shelf above the door.
GREASY PILLOW:
It's inside the bedroom at Bumpusville, just pick it up.
KEY:
In Bumpusville, make the robot set the alarm off, and go into the room next to
the bedroom, with the virtual helmet inside. Kill the dragon, and use the HAND
with the heart to get the KEY. See the walkthrough for more details.
BROCHURES:
Go to Evelyn Morrisons Savage Jungle Inn, and use the MOUTH with Evelyn, and
when you leave, she will give you the BROCHURES.
EGGPLANT:
At the Celebrity Vegetable Museum, you can find the Eggplant to the right, past
the counter.
TOOTH:
At the Dino Bungee National Memorial, get the T-Rexs mouth open (see walkthrough
for more details) and then USE Max with the TWINE to get the tooth.
MAMMOTH HAIR:
At the Dino Bungee National Memorial, go to where the Mammoth is, and USE Max
with it.
TAR:
At the Dino Bungee National Memorial, go on the Bungee, USE the GOLF BALL
GRABBER with the CUP, and USE it on the TAR when you get near it.
JOHN MUIR VEGETABLE:
Once you have given the JOHN MUIR PORTRAIT to the woman at the Celebrity
Vegetable Museum, come back later and she will give you this item.
WIG:
At Bumpusville, USE the EGGPLANT with the wig inside Conroys Bedroom.
ICE PICK:
At the party at Evelyn Morrisons Savage Jungle Inn, go through the small door
at the back, and the ICE PICK is sticking out of the freezer window.
WINE BOTTLE:
At the party at Evelyn Morrisons Savage Jungle Inn, you can find this item on
the table.
CORK:
USE the ICE PICK with the guy at the Worlds Largest Ball of Twine, and then USE
it with the WINE BOTTLE to get the CORK.

CHAPTER 4 - FAQ
***************
Q. What are all these games I keep hearing about?
A. At Snuckeys, you can buy a different game from each one.
Q. How the hell do I get off the binoculars, they just keep on spinning and I
can't stop?
A. Press both mouse buttons at the same time. I had trouble with this, I couldnt
get off and it pissed me off.
Q. Where the hell is the lens?
A. It's at the carnival, next to the whack a rat. It's just to the right of it,
you shouldn't miss it.
Q. What does the introduction have to do with anything?
A. Don't know, as it has nothing to do with the story line at all. It's most
probably just to introduce Sam and Max.
Q. I can't find a place on the map you tell me to go to, why not?
A. You need to look at different items to find the location of a place, like if
you look at the fish head magnet, you can go to the World of Fish and so on.
Q. Whats the point of that highway place, when you go, its just some mini game.
A. Yeah, its a bit crap, and pointless, don't go there.
Q. I can't find the hot tube at the Big foot party!
A. Yeah, its hard to get to. Basically, just keep clicking near where Bruno is
to find it.
Q. Whats this Sam and Max Freelance police all about?
A. Originally, it was a comic book by Steve Purcell, in 1989 I think. He works
for LucasArts as a background artist (used to work now) and he managed to design
a game on Sam Max. The comic book was called Sam and Max Freelance police. Also,
there was a sequel announced for Sam and Max, but got cancelled, it was also
called Sam and Max Freelance Police.
Q. Any sequels being made now?
A. Yes, its being made by TellTale games, and Steve Purcell is helping them with
it. It's still being made though, and I think it might be episodic, im not sure.
Q. Is Sam and Max long?
A. Not really, its a bit like Day of the Tentacle. If you have no clue what your
doing, it can be longish.
Q. Is Sam and Max hard?
A. Not really. It's not the easiest game ever, but the puzzles aren't brain
melting.
