1. INTRODUCTION

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Hello, and welcome to my Sega Swirl Puzzle Game Mini-FAQ. Sega Swirl is
a Full Version of a puzzle game that IS included within the Official
Sega Dreamcast Magazine Issue 4 Demo Disc. Sega Swirl is also available
for the PC, but can only be downloaded from the Sega web site. It's a
strange Bust-a-Move/Tetris hybrid, but it works. And it works well. Sega
Swirl is a very addicting puzzle game once you get the hang of it, and
is well worth the $8.00 it costs to buy the Mag w/Demo Disc. Gee, $8 for
a magazine AND a Full Version of an addicting game? As you can see, it's
a very good deal, and I suggest you pick up a copy as soon as possible.

5. GAME MODES

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Level Challenge:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The most basic of all the modes. This mode allows you to just play the
game regularly. You can play either with a 120 Second timer, or untimed.
If you decide to play with "Timed" on, the faster you clear the board of
swirls, the more points you rack up. You play on a level system, where
it gets gradually harder as you go.
VS Challenge:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another basic mode, VS Challenge is exactly what is sounds like. You
play against another opponent or opponents if you have 4 controller
ports plugged in. You play against the computer, where you take turns
trying to clear the board.

Single Game Challenge:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This mode is kinda like an Exhibition type of mode. This mode allows you
to just play the game regularly. You can play either with a 120 Second
timer, or untimed. If you decide to play with "Timed" on, the faster you
clear the board of swirls, the more points you rack up.
Split Screen Challenge:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This mode allows you to play against a friend, in a split screen mode.
It's a little bit harder to see what you're doing, but it still works.

E-Mail Challenge:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm not really sure what this mode does as of now, since I don't use my
Dreamcast for E-Mail, so I can't comment on this mode as of now.
How to Play:
~~~~~~~~~~~~`
This mode tells you the rules for each mode, and how to play.

Top Scores:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is where all of your Top Scores are kept on record, so you can view
them at your leisure.
Credits:
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Credits Mode of this game allow you to view the credits of Sega
Swirls. A very basic mode.

Sound Options:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Allows you to change the sound settings for the game.
6. HOW TO PLAY
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Basically, you have to clear a board full of different colored swirls by
removing these swirls. They can also connect to each other, and the more
swirls of the same color you have connected when you make them
dissapear, the more points you get.
Here are the rules of each mode, as stated from the game:
LEVEL CHALLENGE RULES AND TIPS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) You must meet each level's goals to advance to the next level.

2) Press X during the game to check your goals.

3) If you clear a level with NO singles, you double your level
   score.

4) Timed games give a score bonus for quickly clearing all swirls.

5) If time runs out before all Swirls are cleared, your game is over.

VERSUS CHALLENGE RULES AND TIPS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) You can compete with up to three other players, or against the
   computer.
2) Each player is assigned a color.
3) Players alternate turns.
4) Swirls of your own color are worth double points--but watch out
   for singles!
5) When all Swirls of your color have been removed, you are knocked out
   of the game.
6) The player with the most points wins.
SINGLE GAME CHALLENGE RULES AND TIPS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) If you clear a level with no Singles, you double your level score.

2) Timed games give a score bonus for quickly clearing all Swirls.

3) If time runs out before all Swirls are cleared, your game is over.

SPLIT SCREEN CHALLENGE RULES AND TIPS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) You can compete with up to three other players, or against the
   computer.
2) Each player has his or her own board.
3) Swirls of your own color are worth double points--but watch out
   for singles!
4) When one player clears a color, that color disappears from all
   boards.
5) When all colors are cleared, a new round begins.
6) Game ends when a player reaches the Goal Score.
E-MAIL CHALLENGE RULES AND TIPS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Turns are sent through e-mail.

2) You can compete with up to three other players, or against the
   computer.

3) Each player is assigned a color.

4) Players alternate turns.

5) Swirls of your own color are worth double points.

6) When all Swirls of your color have been removed, you are knocked
   out of the game.

7) The player with the most points wins.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

8. STRATEGIES

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

- Pick a color, and stick with it. That means, try to eliminate other
  colors, but not the color you are focusing on.

- Try to create HUGE combos with the color you have chosen.

- When possible, try to make columns, since you get a Column Bonus
  for making columns.

- Make large columns, since the larger the column, the more points you
  receive.

- Try to eliminate Singles EARLY on in the game.

- When trying to eliminate Singles, try to eliminate the ones that are
  blocking the Swirls that could be linked to together to make big
  combos.

- Use this Cheat: in single game (practice) mode, get a big combo (20+
swirls) going. Then delete (pick,click on) the big combo and while the
swirls are leaving (in mid air for fireworks) hit start and go to
restart a new level, pick it. you should start over with a new set of
swirls and the amount of points the combo was!
