How to Unlock All Characters:
-----------------------------
You can edit your save file to unlock every character:
* Windows Key + R: type %appdata% and hit enter.
* Find the Brotato folder, then some long number
(mine says 76561197993291628)
* Then find the "save.json" file and open it in notepad.
* On the 2nd line, replace what is written with this line:
["character_well_rounded","character_brawler","character_crazy","character_ranger",
"character_mage","character_old","character_lucky","character_mutant",
"character_generalist","character_sick","character_explorer","character_loud",
"character_chunky","character_multitasker","character_wildling","character_one_arm",
"character_pacifist","character_engineer","character_gladiator","character_bull",
"character_doctor","character_saver","character_soldier","character_masochist",
"character_entrepreneur","character_farmer","character_ghost","character_speedy",
"character_artificer","character_knight","character_hunter","character_glutton",
"character_lich","character_streamer","character_cyborg","character_demon",
"character_jack","character_arms_dealer"]
When you load the game, steam will ask if you want to use the cloud or local
save: choose local save. (If this doesn’t appear, try disabling cloud saves
for the game and re-editing the local file).
-=Burning Ground Boss=-
He puts red dots on the ground then they ignite 1 second later. I find
these easier to dodge if I am not moving and just looking at the ground
under my feat. They appear at regular intervals so pause movement when
the interval is coming and be ready.
Phase 2 he does circles around the player. If you stop moving right
before he does the circle you will be in the middle of it and be in no
danger.
You are long range and high dps so hopefully you can just ignore the
rest of the screen and focus on surviving.
Your lifesteal and regen should help you if you make a mistake. You can
also turn on health bar above your head in the options menu so you don’t
ever have to look away from your hero.
-=Spinning Laser Boss=-
* Phase 1 he spins a laser around himself. There is a gap in it you can
stand in or you can just circle him at the same speed as the laser.
Closer to him you will move around faster effecively.
* Phase 2: He also shoots bullets in all directions slowly.
Play a bit further away.
* Focus 100% on dodging and staying alive and the boss bullets. Don’t
worry about dealing damage, it will happen, you have enough range.
* If you are ever injured continue to play defensively and heal. But
you should always be focusing on staying alive.
General Brotato Tips:
---------------------
Written by $aildhnao
If you are trying for your first win here are some tips.
* Try a ranged character like the ranger.
* Play on the beta branch under steam preferences. The boss is easier
and less buggy. (it may be updated by the time you read this)
* Get lots of defenses so you can make mistakes. HP, Armor, Healing.
* When shopping don’t buy small gains unless they are cheap, stick
to your plan. Rare weapons are the best value and power increase.
* Focus on Luck early. Luck on turn 1-5 will make your run much
stronger. I keep taking any luck I see until about floor 10 and
then focus on weapons and defense.
* Lifesteal is good with very fast weapons like SMG, Minigun, Flamethrower.
* This is true to a lesser extent for AOE weapons but they often only hit
1-2 enemies.7. The more HP you have the better regeneration is. Regen
scales based on your max hp.
* Whatever items you have show up more often in the store. If you are
holding a wrench, more wrenches will show up in your store. If you
want more wrenches then hold 6 wrenches. Be careful not to hurt yourself
by purchasing the wrong things.
-=Some weak stats=-
* Range - slows down melee weapon attack speed, ranged weapons have
plenty of range already.
* Harvesting - generally never worth it. If you take it on turn 1-3 it
certainly pays for itself, but after that more DPS will earn you more
credits and more luck you make your shop better.
* Engineering - not worth dabbling in. Don’t get tempted. You need to
go all in or stay focused on your main build and survival.
* Elemental - super strong if you go all in, but don’t get distracted.
If you find an early flamethrower on any char it is reasonable to
swap to elemental build if it is early enough.
Tips to Deal with Ranged Enemy Spam:
------------------------------------
The main place this is a concern is Wave 14 specifically, which has a
high number of Spawners. Do what you can to contain them for the first
half of the wave – whenever you kill a Spawner (they move slowly and
don’t do anything, look a bit like a wet sock), they will spawn 3 of
the bullet spitting jerks. Try to position so you can take out the spawns
before the run away.
You’ll almost never be able to do this perfectly, but paying some attention
to it will help it not get too far out of hand, then you can usually just
kinda dodge in a corner for the last 10-15 seconds and be okay. (Build
dependant, of course; massive bounces or turrets will pop the Spawners
outside of your control, but will also have the benefit of often sniping
the bullet spitters on the other side of the map too.
Certain weapons are more helpful, e.g. Explosive, Bounce (Shuriken/Slingshot)
or Piercing (Shotgun).
In general if you’re having problems try to stack up armor and dodge,
additional healing through more trees and don’t neglect damage.
If youre melee, you need healing, armor and max hp. By wave 13-15 or so
you should be able to run into mobs head on and never worry. When the
Spawners start appearing I literally dont care, more money and xp.
Dodge is pretty bad compared to armor, dont invest in it unless the class
is built for it.
If there is bullet hell you dont have enough DPS.
When there are multiple bullets on screen it’s better to focus on your
character.
