* Never play duos! The game is only balanced around solo, or triples play
solo is difficult, but it is possible to defeat SOME of the bosses solo
with the right characters and right techniques. Solo is also very good for
practicing and getting your bearings, so you better understand the map.
* Look for Smithing Stones and Glintstones in Mines. Mines are marked on
your map as small caves with glowing gold light flowing into the cave
entrance. Each mine cave has a minor boss guarding a storage room full of
containers. Those containers always have Smithing Stones and Glintstones
to collect. You can often find multiple of each, giving your fully party
a chance to upgrade at the nearest smithing stations. Upgrading your weapon
is one of the most important steps for dealing more damage on Day 1.
* Once you've unlocked the full roster of bosses by defeating the first
Day 3 boss, you'll need to clear four total (or three more) to unlock the
final boss of the game. Defeating the final boss will get you the ending
credits. It's the goal of the game, and certain Day 3 bosses are MUCH
easier than others.
* The Archer is one of the best characters for solo and triples play. Their
long-range attack is ideal for reviving downed allies — target them and
shoot them with arrows from a safe distance and they'll be revived. The
archer is called the Ironeye and he's incredibly good for support because
of his long-range attacks.
Best Route to Level Up and Prepare for Bosses:
----------------------------------------------
Always follow this process and you should get to level 13-15 pretty
consistently, upgrade your weapon to purple, and end up with 7 health flasks:
* Day 1: Go to 2 Churches for health flask upgrades + clear out 2 camps along
the way to level
* Day 1: Complete a mine to get a purple smithing stone
* Day 1: Go to the big castle in the center of the map, there are always 2
merchants here (one on the cliff outside the castle, one on the broken wall).
Go to a merchant to buy blue smithing stone (6500 runes). Upgrade your
starting weapon to purple at merchant (using the blue + purple smithing stone)
* Day 1: At the big castle in the center of the map, enter through the sewers
through the ravine below the castle, defeat the miniboss in the sewer. Then
go up and clear out all other minibosses in the castle, they drop lots of
passive buffs and runes.
* Day 1: Go to Day 1 Boss. You should be Level 9 heading into the Day 1 Boss.
* Day 2: On Day 2, go to remaining Churches and clear out remaining locations
to level up. The ones you already cleared will have a golden site of grace
icon in the middle, so don't revisit already cleared locations (the ones you
already cleared won't reset on Day 2). If you get Gaol Keys, use them on Goals
(the stone circles). Focus on bosses, not on the weak mobs. Bosses give more
runes and drop passive buffs. Don't waste precious time on weak mobs, ignore
them, they're not worth it. All 3 players should stick together, this way you
are awarded runes when a teammate kills an enemy (if too far apart you won't
get runes).
* Day 2: Go to Day 2 boss, should be Level 13-14.
* Day 3: Finish Day 3 boss. If you have any runes left over, you can buy Warming
Stones from the final merchant and items that give you increased attack/defense.
You can also drop them from your inventory to other teammates.
Routeing Tips & Tricks:

-=Always Explore What's Nearby=-
The most important thing is to explore everything in your path. If you are going
to a church for a flask, check out any ruins, camps, forts, or other large
churches along the way. Do the same for castles, sorcerer's rises, or anything
else.
You always want to find upgrades, and visiting locations is how you get them. Do
not skip these places. The only time it makes sense to skip locations is if you
absolutely need to get to the shifting earth area very fast. Otherwise, you can
always fit in exploration.
-=Starting the Game=-
You don't have to do the first small camp right away, but it's a good idea. When
you start, you are next to a small group of enemies. Defeating them gives you
enough experience to go from level 1 to level 2. Getting to level 2 gives you a
good boost in health, so I suggest doing it.
However, it's not a disaster if you skip it. One bad choice usually won't end your
game; it's a series of bad choices that cause problems. If you want to go to a
large church, a bigger camp, or a fort first, you'll probably be fine. I suggest
going to large churches first because their bosses are usually easy with one
person and very easy with three.
-=What Not to Fight Early=-
For your first day, do not fight red field bosses. It's not worth the time. You
want to get as much loot as possible on your first day, focusing on getting many
items rather than just a few powerful ones. Strong field bosses take too much time
for rewards that aren't that good early on. Regular field bosses are fine, but try
to fight them with your team to defeat them quickly.
-=Going to the Castle=-
It's okay to go to the castle on day one. Even if it has trolls or the bell
bearing hunter, the castle gives you a lot of experience and loot, especially the
important item chest you get after beating the boss in the basement. Some people
say to wait until day two, but that's being too careful. If you plan to go on day
one, save it for the second half of the day. Start in the basement and work your
way up.
-=Churches and Healing=-
Churches are good. You will take damage, and so will your teammates. Since getting
hit is going to happen, healing is necessary. Go get flasks; it's important.
-=Shifting Earth Secrets=-
Every shifting earth map has a special bonus, so do these secrets. The only one
you might consider skipping is the mountain, as its frostbite resistance is only
useful if you fight the frostbite dragon. All other shifting earth maps have really
good bonuses, especially the Nokstella area, which gives everyone a revive.
The circle will always close in on the shifting earth location, so you will have
time on the second day to get the bonus. However, I suggest starting on it before
the circle closes, especially Nokstella, because its boss is right next to the
edge of the night area.
-=Mines are Tunnels=-
Those mines you see on the map are tunnels. They lead to different places. Many
players don't seem to know this and would rather climb mountains or run through
empty areas instead of taking the easy tunnel route, which also gives you easy
smithing stones.
-=Merchants=-
Make time for merchants. You don't need a lot of time, but try to visit one at least
once to buy an item pouch. Merchants appear at forts, camps, and the castle. There
is also a special merchant in the town who sells more items, rarer gear, and special
trinkets.
-=Evergaol Keys=-
If you have an Evergaol key, use it. Fighting Evergaol bosses is fast and gives
good rewards. Try to find one that is on your way to another goal, though; don't
go out of your way for it.
-=Storm and Churches=-
As I said before, you should go to churches for flasks, and that includes churches
covered by the storm. It's safe to do so. Using a flask at a church refills all
your flasks, gives you a new one, and restores your health. So, running into the
storm to get a flask is actually pretty low risk.
