Finding Ammo:
-------------
Written by Dr. Fauci's Super Soldier
The best way to farm ammo is to abuse a current bug? Maybe it is, maybe
it isn’t. But all you gotta do is return to the helicopter crash site
or another place, like the modern axe camp site, that has black containers
(they also contain ammo for other weapons as well) and pitch a tent or use
a nearby tent to save the game, then exit and reload the save. The container
will miraculously refill their randomized contents and it can be done
infinitely.
How to Duplicate Items (Easy Way):
----------------------------------
Written by Arisu
1. Find a location with items example would be cannibal camp or the
crates where you first spawn ground loot will also be effected.
2. Make a spot to save your game close to the items you want duped you can
do this by making a tent with a stick and tarp.
3. Collect the items you want duped if you can’t pick them up cause your
inventory is full that’s fine.
4. Save your game at the save spot you made.
5. Pause the game and select “QUIT” once your at the main menu load your save.
6. Repeat step 3!
5 Tips for Beginners:
---------------------
Written by WHOLF
In this guide, I’ll show you the 5 best tips for beginners!
-=Scavenge and Collect=-
The first tip is perfect for your start in Sons of the Forest. If you have
just crashed, you start with little equipment and are quite helpless. So
scour the surrounding area and collect everything you can find. Sticks, stones,
plants. Everything can be helpful. If you find essential resources, such as aloe
vera plants for healing, note their location, so you can always find them.
-=Building Your Base=-
For your first base, you should find a safe area. Of course, this should not be
in the snow biome, it is far too cold there. Look in a warmer area and preferably
near a water source.
Once you have found the perfect place, start cutting down trees and building a
small hut. Start small to have a safe shelter as soon as possible. Also, build
a fence or, better still, a wall around your base to protect you from attacks.
-=Saving Ammo=-
You will find many more weapons in Sons of the Forest than in its predecessor.
These include firearms such as pistols and shotguns. However, ammunition is rare,
so you should save it for emergencies.
To defeat smaller waves of enemies or to hunt for animals, it is best to build a
bow and arrows as early as possible. You can also use melee weapons like axes or
improvised clubs to fight off your enemies. You should use firearms when stronger
enemies, such as mutants, attack your base.
Safe your molotovs for big monsters as well or for groups. When finding the machete
or the modern axe, it makes things also a bit easier.
-=Your Surroundings=-
Good preparation is half the battle. The saying makes sense here because rash action
can mean your demise. So you should observe your opponents’ paths and avoid them in
the early game.
Before attacking them, you should see how many opponents are around and how they
react. They will be better prepared for you than you are for them.
If you are geared and up for battles, go for it. Bones are very handy for armor and
quite easy to obtain. Just kill them and put them on a fire.
-=Calvin and Other AI=-
Calvin is an NPC who survived the helicopter crash with you. Help him, and don’t
leave him. He is a helpful support throughout the game, whether in combat, gathering,
or defense. You also need to take good care of and feed him; otherwise, he might stop
working and die in the worst case.
-=Who is Calvin?=-
Calvin, your first companion, is deaf due to the crash and has suffered head trauma.
He won’t be able to communicate with you, and in 8-player multiplayer, you will only
have one companion. You can use your notepad to give orders to Calvin so that he
collects resources for you and delivers them to a chosen point. He can also follow
you, attack enemies or hunt.
Companions will periodically take a break and eat something. If you do not take good
care of them or behave badly towards them, they will do their work more and more slowly.
-=How to Recruit New Companions=-
To recruit new companions for your cause, you must find out what these companions
want from you. Besides Calvin, there is currently only one other known companion that
you can recruit in Sons of The Forest. This is the mutant woman Virginia, who has
already appeared in various trailers.
At the beginning of your adventure, she will flee from you, but she has a rather
reckless nature. You will be able to recruit her, although the developers won’t say
more about it yet, and increase her trust in you if you are nice to her.
How to Build Palisades:
-----------------------
Can you build palisades? The answer is yes. In the survival book it explains
how to make defensive walls.
Vertical log walls that have to be individually placed and manually spiked, can
also put sticks vertical and with a hatchet can spike them and set then angled
into the ground.
In other words
You plant a log in the ground, look at the ground and left click with the dotted
circle, then do it again right next to that one. You can use the axe aiming at the
top of planted logs to sharpen them.
But remember, it’s very slow.
Useful Tips:
------------
Written by AWeirdDude47
-=Quick Tips=-
* Chests from start of the game refresh, so go back at the end of every day.
* There is free loot to the left of crash site that I forgot about, it has breakfast
and soda.
* Don’t make a custom base yet like in the trailers, I tried and didn’t know how
to make a door, so I had to scratch that idea and make a log cabin from crafting
book.
* If you see a red dashed line on an object (eg. wood) it means you can hold down
primary button with your tool and chop it, break it, ect.
* Kelvin’s “Clear Area” button means he will clear it’s MATERIALS, so don’t be afraid
he’ll fight that cannibal stalking you and engage a fight.
* That Mutant lady will come to YOU rather than you having to find her… just a heads
up so you don’t have to wonder where to go to meet her.
* You have one free death. If you die in a cave, you respawn near the exit. If you
die to a cannibal outside, you spawn at their camp and free yourself from a trap
(eg. tied to pole with rope).
Go to those green circles! They indicate a base or bunker with lots of supplies!
-=Tips for Surviving Your First Night=-
Here are the top five Sons of the Forest recommendations straight from the developers
at Endnight Studios! Here are some helpful hints for making it through your first night
in the forthcoming survival horror game, Sons of the Forest, whether you’re brand-new
to the universe of The Forest or a seasoned player anxious to dive into The Forest
successor.
How to Negate All Fall Damage:
------------------------------
Written by MOON_MAN
For those who don’t know you can pretty much climb most surfaces in this game
that aren’t a straight vertical line.
You do this by walking up it and spamming jump while sprinting and you can easily
climb the mountain.
-=But now what?=-
There are two ways to get down cliff faces instantly without damaging yourself.
* The 3D printed sledge gives you fall damage immunity. (You jump and hold the
left mouse button to use it.)
* Position yourself on a steep ledge where you start to see your character start
sliding off and then open your inventory. While it is open you take no fall
damage damage. Just make sure to keep it open until you have reached the ground.
There you go this helps skip some of annoying terrain on the other side of the
island where the last bunkers are.
Starter Tips:
-------------
Written by vaess
* When you use your inventory, time stands still. You can freely change weapons,
eat food or use medicine.
* Don’t explore the caves until you get a firearm, flashlight, and armor. All caves
marked on navigation are very dangerous.
* If you die, you will be dragged to the enemy camp. Permanent death will occur
when you lose a life twice in a short period.
* Note that the schematic guide has two modes with different items and buildings.
You can change the mode by holding X.
* Cannibals cannot swim – deep water provides partial protection against attack.
Stagnant water freezes in winter.
* The same plants are not everywhere – explore different parts of the forest.
Sometimes you can find meadows where you will find large amounts of one plant
species.
* Once you locate abandoned golf carts, search near the cave entrance. You can’t
do anything with the vehicles themselves.
* The more noise you make and the forest you cut down, the more you attract
attention and hostility from the natives. They are also attracted to light.
* Lower the quality of the grass in the graphics settings to make it easier to
locate herbs and mushrooms. It will also make it easier to collect sticks or
find arrows.
* You will unlock new blueprints by exploring and acquiring new materials.
* Hover over the cog in the crafting window after placing it in the center of
an item to see what you can do with it.
* Get a bow as soon as possible – ranged weapons allow you to avoid confrontations
that are dangerous even on the normal difficulty level.
* Crouch to hide from pursuit or track enemies. You are practically invisible in
the bushes. You can also hunt more efficiently by sneaking.
* You can use explosives and grenades to knock down trees. Be careful, because a
falling tree hurts and destroys your structures.
How to Find the Optimal Spot to Base:
-------------------------------------
Written by Coael
This is a short and helpful guide telling you how to find a good spot to build
a base, and set your self up!
-=Safety First!=-
When finding a spot, you obviously need to make sure that you’re safe! As
cannibals are a big danger, the best idea would be to find a location far away
from cannibals.
A great way to do so is to find the general location you want a base. Then,
walk in circles etc around the area where your base is to make sure there are
no camps.
I would also highly recommend living in a very open location, so you can see
cannibals from afar as they approach, instead of being caught off guard by them.
-=Nature in Your Surroundings=-
Something very important while finding a spot for your base is access to water
and various natural resources. The most important is to live near water.
Luckily, the map is dotted with lakes, rivers, and various other water-related
things I can’t name off the top of my head. Your best bet for a place to live
is next to a river, especially due to the accessibility of fish.
You can also use water as a defense mechanism. Cannibals aren’t very smart, so
often if they fall into a fast river, they won’t really be able to cross it
easily. Having a base next to one would probably be a good idea, especially
since you can also drink out of it. (Water is VERY important)
Don’t forget the plants! Bushes, Trees, and Rocks can affect you in either good
ways or bad ways. Wherever you choose to live, make sure to clear out the bushes
from the surrounding areas, since cannibals like to hide and disguise themselves
in them.
Trees are also a large risk to your safety. Some cannibals climb up the trees
and pounce down on the unsuspecting player. Make sure to leave an open space
without bushes or trees around your house.
Rocks can be helpful as well, especially for use to look around and stand on,
or just to add some variety to the terrain to make it a bit harder for cannibals
to maneuver.
-=Don’t Forget The Story=-
One of the biggest parts of this game is the story, so you’re gonna want to
be able to access the story as best as possible.
Don’t stray off to the far corner or side of the map, it may seem safe, but
long journeys to different locations are going to affect your food and water
supply badly, and also leave your base open to get attacked while you’re gone.
But be careful! While some places may seem to be a little decoration spot,
they may turn out to be a bit of a danger, so stay safe and watch where you
step.
Infinite Pistol Mags Guide:
---------------------------
Written by Karma
For players who need more ammos, this guide will show you how to get infinite
mags for pistal.
-=Getting the gun=-
Don’t have the Pistol yet? no worries just open your GPS press the middle mouse
button until your zoomed out and go to the purple marker in the middle of the
ocean. There is a life raft you will have to swim out to but be careful there
is a shark protecting it. Once on the life raft you will find the gun and a
tracker, use the gun to kill the shark and swim back to shore.
-=Getting Virginia to trust you=-
When Virginia approaches you don’t have a weapon out. To put away your weapon
press g. She will walk up to you multiple times and run away. She will eventually
bring you gifts and then you will be able to access her inventory, she will also
stay close to you and your base.Sons Of The Forest Infinite Pistol Mags Guide
-=Infinite mags=-
To get infinite mags (not ammo) open Virginia’s inventory and give her the gun.
When you give her the gun take it right back and the gun will be reloaded and
full of ammo. You will have 12 shots then will need to repeat the process.
How to Build Bridges Over Lakes:
--------------------------------
Written by IslandBoiiZ
Hopefully the devs wont fix this bug but if you wait for the winter you can
build over water.
-=How-To=-
In the North Western lake there is a tiny island in the middle. It’s next to
the bunker where you find the crossbow.
I’ve set up my base there and it is completely safe 3 seasons out of 4. Obviously
you have to complete the build before the ice melts.
There aren’t many trees in the area and I like having some around my lake so I
found the closest cannibal camp and took all their trees (cause I hate them!)
and zip lined them to the island.
Place some log holders in that area and tell kelvin to fill them up so by the
time you get back, you have new logs to zip home.
You should manage at least 2 deliveries per day and should have enough logs to
complete the foundations for the bridge in time for spring.
How to Build a 100% Safe Base:
------------------------------
On an island full of dangers and adverse to newcomers, building a base is challenging
the locals. Keeping on the move is the most efficient/ best strategy.
-=Guide to Build a Safe Base=-
Still, if you want to build a base that is 100% safe, your best bet is to build a
base in a bunker as the mobs do not respawn in there (apparently they do respawn
in caves).
Lastly, if you want to build a base on the outside, it will never be 100% safe, but
there are a couple of things that make it safer/dangerous.
-=Here are some=-
* Build the base far away from the cannibals camps and routes.
* Avoid attacking the cannibals for as long as possible (the sooner you attack,
the more aggressive they become).
* Try not to kill them by letting them run away.
* If you do kill them, put their heads on a spike near your base
(also showing them the head equipped can help).
* I also suspect that the more you build, the more aggressive they become.
* Try to befriend virginia as soon as possible and provide it with the handgun
and the shotgun as it will greatly help you defend the base.
* The enemies cannot swim (I have seen a dirty cannibal drown by simply entering
the water) so building your base near it can reduce the defensive front to handle.
* Personally, I’ve built a 5 floor tower on a 2×2 square of space. I’ve used shelfs
as the stairs to climb through the floors. Made no doors to the tower and simply
used a rope from the very top to the bottom. I’ve surrounded the ground floor
with a defensive wall (no space between the wall and the tower itself). Despite
the enemies visits, I have never been disturbed inside so far.
Ending Explained:
-----------------
Written by Funny noise
-=Spoilers! My Theory=-
I believe when we see Timmy multiplying in the cube its not him being healed from
whatever is inside of him from the ending of the first game as many people widely
believe but, its a glimpse of tangent time line Timmy’s who in all time-lines
entered the cube, hence why we see each Timmy performing different actions e.g.
aiming the gun potentially at someone or something who entered the cube with him
in a different time-line.
The cube doesn’t heal Timmy when he enters but in fact closes all other tangent
time lines that Timmy opens apart from the primary time line (the one we see in
the game).
I believe that in the first game when Timmy got revived it created a rift in the
primary time-line/reality which created multiple tangent time lines (alternate
realties that run in parallel with the primary/original reality) and Timmy is
aware of these other tangent reality’s (hence some of his strange behaviour in
the first game) and he aims to close them, as tangent universes/time-lines can be
very fragile and can easily cause a black hole destroying the primary time-line if
not closed.
On top of this I believe the glimpse into the futuristic city is actually a glimpse
into the future of the primary time line now that Timmy has closed all other time
lines or perhaps its actually the future if Timmy didn’t close the alternate time-
lines.
A lot of confusing tangent universe/alternate reality ? very similar to the film
Donnie Darko I recommend checking it out very interesting stuff!
How to Enter Any Doors Without Keycards:
----------------------------------------
Written by Kita
So if you find a door where you need a keycard of some sort you can enter it without
having the keycard it self.
-=Steps to get in to the room=-
* Get a stick.
* Find a door.
* Hug the door and look for a place where you can place the stick
(make sure you dont make a campfire) it will show you that you can place it in
your screen.
* You will get to through the door.
* If you want to get out of the room you do the same as what you did to get in.
* Its also posibble to do in some walls.
How to Dupe Everything:
-----------------------
Written by AppleJews
In this guide I show you how to duplicate everything in your inventory (co-op only).
Simple Dupe with Your Friend
-=First=-
You need a tent, a shelf and a friend. Important is that only the second player
can dupe everything in that fast way, the Host just has to run the server.
-=Second=-
The second player has to save the game then put anything he wants to dupe in the
shelf then he has to rejoin. After that, the items still remain in the shelf and
in your inventory. Now take everything from the shelf back to you inventory, save
your game and but everything back to the shelf and rejoin.
Over the time, you duplicate it. Mean 2×1=2, 2×2=4, 2×4=8 and so on.
With ammo for example it take arround 20min to get max 1000 rounds of one type.
When you are finished, you can fill up the shelf or two shelfs with you duplicated
items for the host and you just rejoin to get a full inventory again.
