Cheat Codes:

Tips for Handling Marisa:
-------------------------
* Marisa in General is pretty weak against lows because her armored
punch and counter stance both only couter highs (except for ex
versions).
* Her uncharged normals are also almost all negative on block so if
you block something uncharged she loses her turn and you can happily
press some buttons.
* Her step kick ist punishable on block if she misspaces it.
* Her anti-air game is also pretty weak since her SA2 and her AA-Punch
don´t hit deep jump ins so she has to rely on cr. HP which she has
to use kinda preemptively.
Tips to Power Up Your Character:
--------------------------------
Not Level: Leveling will not power up your character. It only earns
you skill points.
Skill Tree: You can increase def/atk by filling the skill tree.
Gear: Each gear enhance your character’s status
(Expensive = Better Status).
Enhance: You can enhance gears at shops
(I’ve never used it, so idk).
Permanent Food: Collect consumables with “(Permanent)” in its
description and USE them. Almost every item shop has a single stock
of them.
Temporary Food: Consuming food in the battle is important when you
are under-leveled. For losing battle, at least keep hp-regen and
defense-buff up.
Basically, get new gears and wear them in “Gear Effect”. Always buy
and eat perma food. You can check the spec of your gears in status menu.
How to Find Kimberly (World Tour):
----------------------------------
* Where is Kimberly?
* She’s on top of the police station.
After you’ve completed your objectives and escaped from the SiRN building,
you’ll be able to encounter Kimberly again at night within Metro City. You
can find her on top of the Police Station, on the same block of buildings
that your hideout is on.
In order to reach her, you need to take the ladder that’s north west of the
hideout. Head up the ladder, then up the second, smaller ladder, and you’ll
find Kimberly in the corner leaning on the railing.
Talk to her, tell her you want to learn some sweet new moves and you’ll
have bagged yourself another master.
Rotation Inputs Tips:
---------------------
Written by Lysamus
* It doesn’t need you to be as fast about it as you may think. The game
will cache the input for a bit.
* Make sure you’re hitting the attack button after completing the motion
and not during. You can show inputs in training to help.
* For QCF/QCB, Start by putting the stick/your thumb on the first input. From
there, slowly roll over in the intended direction until you hit the last
input, then press your attack button. Repeat, but go slightly faster.
Continue until the move comes out.
* For DPs, Start by holding forward, roll your stick/thumb down, then roll it
back up again and hit the attack button as you do so. Again, start slow,
then gradually speed up until the move comes out.
How to Counter Ken:
-------------------
Written by Cat on Mars
He gets mixups on ken kick cancels in strings so you want to DI when he wants
to mixup and block and take turns when he doesn’t. Time to guess.
You are expected to react to heavy dragon kick because it’s plus OB and gets
him in full screen. Either a DI or perfect parry works.
All shotos have to be wary of crouching medium kick xx hadouken now because
this also loses to DI. If they don’t cancel though they can react.
Ken’s fireball is slower than the ‘good’ fireballs so it’s easier to go through
it with a DI as well.
Note: He’s always either punishable or his turn ends. Go into training mode
and see what you can punish. Then once you show him that he can’t get away with
unsafe stuff try to not let him rush you down. Stop jumps and prevent him from
dashing/running at you mindlessly.
Tips for Linking Combos:
------------------------
Written by Buttered Steak
You only need like 2 combos sometimes 3. So pick them according to what you
can do consistently after practice. You will need a punish that hurts enough
to make them stop doing the thing you punished (usually your BnB), Corner
combo that really freaking hurts and puts them into a panic, and if you
character has a good option an antiair combo so they are more reined in on
the approach making them more predictable.
As for executing a combo try it with a rhythm in your head and look away from
the screen when doing it. You can listen to the rhythm when you playback a
combo it makes a noise when it is executed. Imagine a guitar hero type game
where you press the buttons when they hit the bar. Once you got the rhythm
the on-screen animations don’t matter that much. Then you can start learning
when to attack the holes in all the characters offense to interrupt pressure,
move on then to baiting and conditioning players and your off to the races.
The hard part is opening people up to be hit by a combo in the first place.
The special sauce in SF is usually the tick throw or strike mix up, or the
shimmy to bait a reversal into a big counter punish.
I would say try cutting things down into bite-sized pieces. If the combo trial
is 5 steps, you can save yourself some time by practicing the links/cancels
that are causing you the most trouble. It is kind of like learning a song,
that way (also because you should admit to yourself you don’t know how to do
it yet, you’re just starting!). This doesn’t apply so much to Cammy’s Beginner
#7, if that’s the one you mean, because you need the crumple from the Drive
Impact in the corner.
Also, as has already been said, viewing an example of the combo can be
extremely helpful.
Guide to World Tour Style EXP Farming:
--------------------------------------
In this guide I’m going to break down how much Style EXP you earn from NPC
fights and what you can do to earn Style EXP more efficiently. There will be
spoilers for World Tour Mode from here on out.
Calculating Style EXP rewards for NPC fights is both easy and complicated.
In simplest terms, the formula is:
Style EXP reward = NPC level x N
So what is N? N is a hidden multiplier that has an inverse logarithmic relationship
with NPC level. In plain terms, as NPC levels increase, N decreases by exponentially
smaller amounts. N is also different for hostile and non-hostile NPC’s, and it’s way
larger for non-hostile NPC’s. The fact that you fight hostile NPC’s in groups does
not compensate for this difference, so our first tip is: Don’t Farm Hostile NPC’s.
They’re simply way less efficient for farming Style EXP than non-hostile NPC’s.
Anyway, since N decreases as NPC level increases, most NPC’s in Metro City give
roughly the same amount of Style EXP. However, once NPC’s get past level 30, N
will stabilize to about 3.5, and Style EXP rewards will increase steadily. Hence,
our second tip is to Fight NPC’s in Old Nayshall, as they will offer higher Style
EXP rewards than NPC’s in Metro City due to their higher levels.
There is also some food you can eat to increase the amount of Style EXP you earn,
with the largest boosts coming from the Bluberry Smoothie and the Hard Senbei you
can order through the Drone Delivery App in Metro City and in Old Nasyhall,
respectively. These items increase the amount of Style EXP you earn by 20% for
three minutes. However, the Hard Senbei can’t be ordered while you’re on Mt. Vashal.
If you fight an NPC that uses a Style, you will earn bonus Style EXP for that Style
equal to 2.5 times the normal Style EXP reward for that NPC.
Lastly, if you max out a Style Rank, you can continue to earn Style EXP for that
Style and then transfer that EXP to another Style. However, there is a 3:1 conversion
rate for this transfer, so trying to earn all of your Style EXP with just one Style
is quite inefficient. Hence, the next tip is, if you’re trying to max out multiple
Style Ranks, don’t rush to max any of them out too quickly.
So, in summary, the most efficient way to farm Style EXP is to fight high-level NPC’s
in Old Nayshall that use Styles. However, you’ve probably already noticed that most
NPC’s don’t use Styles and that you can’t fight an NPC again for some time after you
defeat them. NPC’s have a 15 minute refresh timer before you can fight them again,
so the best way around these limitations is to cycle between high-level areas and
fights with set NPC’s with Styles every 15 minutes. I will now list the good farming
locations I’ve found, and I’ll add on any that get mentioned in the comments:
* The highest level NPC’s are the level 48-53 NPC’s hanging around Old Nayshall:
Suval’hal Arena – Entrance. There aren’t any set NPC’s in this location that use
Styles though, so it’s efficient to travel to other locations while you wait for
the NPC’s here to refresh.
* One of the best farming locations is Old Nayshall: Mount Vashal – Base. You’ll
find plenty of random NPC’s hanging around at about lvl 42, but the big targets
are Merchant Mello, Rewancha and Kalima. These are set NPC’s with high levels
who use JP, Marisa and Cammy’s Styles respectively. Kalima in particular will always
offer a huge Style EXP bonus for Cammy if you hit her with a 10-hit combo, which can
be achieved easily with multi-hit specials or supers.
In Old Nayshall: The Lowlands – South Area, you’ll find Punch, Kilick and Milloy,
three set NPC’s that use Dee Jay, Manon and Ken’s Styles, respectively. Kilick and
Milloy have sizable Style EXP bonuses if you defeat them while above 75% HP.
* Just south of Old Nayshall: The Lowlands – Commerce Plaza, there are a pair of
twins, Nakaji and Umihi. To the south of them, across the gap, is another set NPC
named Yone. These three use Jamie, Dhalsim and Kimberley’s Styles respectively and
all offer bonuses for defeating them while above 75% HP.
* After you finish Retsu’s questline he’ll hang out at Genbu Temple. He’s level 60
and offers a Ryu Style EXP bonus for hitting him with Super Arts. To the right you
can also find Miharu Abeno who uses Juri’s style.
* Eternity uses Juri’s Style and hangs out next to the fast travel point for Old
Nayshall – Central Bazaar.
* After you finish E. Honda’s Master quests, his three new employees will hang
out at Chanko House Edomon (Can’t list their names because you can actually
change their names by talking to them). They’re all above level 30 and use Honda’s
Style. They also all offer bonus Style EXP if you trade hits with them, but there’s
no easy way to reliably trigger that.
* This is an odd one: go to Metro City at Night. Climb up to the headquarters of
the Crows (where you meet Rudra). You’ll find two set NPC’s, Crows Wuya and Crows
Corbeau. Neither of them use Styles, but they will pay out bonus Style EXP for
Chun Li, Jamie and Guile Lily, Zangief, Manon if you use combo attacks against Wuya
and throws against Corbeau. This isn’t necessarily efficient due to the time it
takes to climb up to the Crows headquarters, but it is very easy.
* Chun Li’s students in Hong Hu Lu Chinatown are generally way too low-level to be
worth fighting, but Li-Fen and Lao-Tang have decent levels if you’re looking for
Chun Li’s Style EXP. Also in the Back Street you can fight Bao Bao Bro who uses
Jamie’s style.
* In Old Nayshall: The Lowlands – River Bank Area, there are a bunch of ~lvl 32 NPCs
that will offer bonus Style EXP. However, the Styles and their conditions are random
and the bonuses are only around 100 Style EXP each, so farming them isn’t necessarily
efficient or reliable.
* Pick out whichever of these locations you find easiest to grind out and loop them
every 15 minutes. Hopefully this guide helps you to max out your preferred Styles
more quickly!
Tips for C Controls:
--------------------
* Go through the character guide in the game. Also do the tutorial to learn the
basic mechanics if you haven’t already. World Tour mode is an excellent resource
as well for helping you learn the fundamentals.
* Find 1 or 2 simple bread and butter combos online. Drill in training as needed
to get comfortable with them. Keep it simple (like 1-2 hits into special kind
of simple).
* Start playing against players. Do a set of 5-10 matches. Don’t worry about whether
you win or lose.
* Watch the replays afterwards. Look for what you were doing that was working and
where you could stand to improve. Look for patterns in your own play that are
hurting you (Are you getting low poked a lot? Are they jumping in on you a lot? Are
you struggling to start your offense?). Put together a plan to overcome those patterns.
* Get back in there, putting your plan to the test. Make adjustments as needed. Search
online or post here if you’re stuck and not sure what to do.
* Once you feel you’ve put your weakness behind you from step 4, go back to watching
replays and look for another area to improve. Once you feel like your bread and
butters are coming out clean every match, develop new, more complex combos to help
you maximize your touches.
If your plans just won’t come together, lower the stakes. Play Arcade for a while and
practice executing there, or go into the training room and set up the dummy to help
you with your plan.
This approach will help you develop your own style at a pace comfortable for you and
help you improve in the myriad different skills required to be proficient in fighting
games beyond just execution.
Farming EXP Guide for Chapter 15:
---------------------------------
Written by max
This guide is designed to make that road to 59 a little less painful.
-=Prerequisites=-
* You must have the France area unlocked (Manon).
* You should be at least level 48 for best results.
* You should have the Mount Vashal Base in Nayshall fast travel point unlocked.
* This will be easier if you have a lot of flight tickets and continues stashed up.
* You’ll need money to buy the EXP (L) item several times.
-=Fly to France and buy the Pot-Au-Feu=-
* Fly to France.
* Talk to Merchant Hawker.
* Select his “General Store” option and buy Pot-Au-Feu, a dish that gives you a
temporary EXP (L) bonus.
-=Immediately fly to Nayshall (Mount Vashal Base) and run up to the arena entrance=-
* Now that you have a limited time to maximize EXP farm, the clock is ticking.
* Fly to Mount Vashal Base in Nayshall.
* Once you’re there, turn to your right and take the small cave exit which brings
you to the waterfall.
* Do not go through the waterfall, take the path on the right which brings you toward
the ladders to the tournament entrance. There will be some hostile fighters on the
way. You can try to run past them and take the ladders or fight them on your way.
* Note: After you beat the game, you’ll unlock a fast travel destination for the
courtyard but until then, you’ll have to take the aforementioned scenic route.
-=Farm at the tournament courtyard area=-
* Now that you’re in the courtyard, beat up every fighter in sight to maximize EXP.
* Use your tag team summons (LB+RB for Modern controls) as soon as you get them to
speed things up. Try to avoid time consuming grab moves. Leveling up will fully
restore your health and you should be leveling up often enough so that you won’t
run out of health, but if it comes down to it, I recommend fighting until you
run out of health and not using items because you’ll likely need those items for
chapter 15. Keep doing this until the EXP bonus wears off (the EXP icon in the
top-right will go away).
-=Rinse and repeat=-
* Repeat this process ad nauseum until you reach at least level 59, at which point
you should be ready for the final chapter. Cheers!
