How to Unlock Backgrounds from the Book of Secrets, and What Each Secret Does:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Known Secrets.

-=Scarecrow=-
Requirement: Break ten statues
Effect: Gives you a scarecrow
 

-=Strong=-
Requirement: Die 10 times while playing Vagante.
Effect: Begin the game with one more strength than usual.

-=Wilding=-
Requirement: Reach the fourth floor.
Effect: Unlocks the Wildling

-=Deprived=-
Requirement: Reach the fourth floor.
Effect: Player begins the game with no items. Why wouldn’t you use this one?

-=Bookworm=-
Requirement: Read 20 Spellbooks.
Effect: Spells are more effective, and you start with more intelligence. 
However, you lose Strength and Constitution.

-=Illiterate=-
Requirement: Read 100 scrolls.

Effect: You cannot use scrolls or Spellbooks, but you start with 5 bombs. 
You are also renamed to a dumb terrorist.

-=Survivor=-
Requirement: Die 100 times.
Effect: You gain 7 extra HP in between levels.

-=Farsighted=-
Requirement: Shoot 400 arrows.
Effect: The Player has further vision, but has a higher chance to miss 
attacks with melee weapons.

-=Snake Eater=-
Requirement: Drink 5 Potions of Poison.
Effect: Potions of Poison heal the Player, but Potions of Regeneration are 
less effective. Start with 1 extra point in poison resist.

-=Wanted=-
Requirement: Killed by a shopkeeper 10 times.
Effect: Begin the game with a Stolen Ring. Shopkeepers will attack you on sight 
(NOTE, a good way to deal with them is as knight, with the first sword ability)

-=Ascetic=-
Requirement: Collect 10,000 gold.
Effect: Collect 10,000 gold — Touching gold hurts you, but your starting stats 
are increased.

-=Wisp Curse=-
Requirement: Killed by a Wisp 3 times.
Effect: An endless stream of green wisps flow through the level. 
The wisps are on a set path and will not chase the player.

-=Nimble=-
Requirement: Solve the jumping puzzle in the caravan area.
Effect: You’ve learned to be quick on your feet (+1 SPD).

-=Synchronized=-
Requirement: Reach the catacombs.
Effect: The world moves in steps with you.

-=Death’s Acolyte=-
Requirement: Clear 3 floors while wearing “death becomes easier to encounter” 
equipment.
Effect: Two tattoos of demonic dragons etched into your skin fill your body with 
deadly strength, at great cost. The souls of mortals tremble from your presence 
(Permanent “death becomes easier to encounter” effect, which means you get one 
shot no matter what attacks you, but you hit 80 damage every time)

-=Raised by Merchant=-
Requirement: Buy 40 items from the shop.
Effect: Growing up as a merchant’s child has given you an aptitude for bargaining. 
Receive a special discount at shops.
