How to Skip the Intro/Loading Screen (CAT):
-------------------------------------------
Written by Anti-Kilian
Many people are getting annoyed by the intro of the game with the
very loud voiceline of "For 70 years we lived in the shadows of the great war."
There is a simple fix for all of you, who are annoyed by it.
Just follow the guide its really simple, as there are not any known launchoption
to skip the intro yet.
-=How to Skip the Loading Scene=-
* Go to the Installation folder
* Open Steam.
* Click on Libary.
* Right click on Marauders: Closed Alpha.
* Select "Manage" -> Browse local files and click on it.
It should open an Explorer window.
* Find the file to rename/delete
* Open the folder "RaidGame".
* Open the folder "Content".
* Open the folder "Movies".
* Rename or delete the file "LoadingScreen.mp4"
(rename it for example to "BackupLoadingScreen.mp4").
-=Launch the game=-
Launch the game. The game will start with the "EXIT | Log In" screen, without
the video or sound.
Path for most users:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\MaraudersAlpha\RaidGame\Content\Movies
File: LoadingScreen.mp4
If you want the intro back, simply rename the file back to the original or
use the steam app to check for the integrity of the files.
The video should be redownloaded.
Tips for Playing Solo:
----------------------
My general approach for playing solo is always go into a raid with just the
basic stuff on the Rust bucket. You haven’t bought anything with you so no loss
if you die, then everything you loot is essentially 100% profit from that point
on.
I tend to play more stealthily, moving away from gun fights or picking opportunities
to kill and loot NPC’s – only if absolutely necessary do I engage with other players.
Also making sure that I know when to get out, if you grab a few decent items (guns
/ armour etc) don’t over extend yourself and get out when you have the chance. The
number of times I have found decent loot and got greedy and ended up dead…
Also try investing in silenced weapons or silencers – the amount of attention you
can attract from both NPC’s and players alike can become a serious problem very
quickly.
Once your inventory is filling up a bit you can risk some more of the basic weapons
but I tend to revert back to the naked method if I have lost some stuff.
I tend to go slowly and listen often. I’ll even stop and wait for a few seconds
once in a while so I can take time to look around and listen. The game seems to have
really good sound design and I can usually tell exactly where someone is by the noise
they’re making. It probably helps that I’ve got a few hours in Hunt: Showdown.
Gunfire absolutely alerts people to your presence, that’s how I usually figure out
where players are. I’ll often go the other way since I only play solo.
There’s no harm in jumping in, grabbing a small amount of loot, and leaving again.
You can sell loot to traders so quick runs are profitable and useful. Even more
profitable if you don’t waste any ammo and don’t take any damage to your gear that
you’ll have to fix or replace. You’ve got limited air anyway, and I think that the
longer you’re in a mission the more likely you are to run into other players that
haven’t done a quick loot and scoot.
Don’t be afraid to use how loud everything is to your advantage. Try to move during
footsteps or loud noises, gunshots, airlock doors, ect ect.
Use your movement tactically. If you hear footsteps approaching, don’t be afraid
to run towards and back or just back and then abruptly stop to set up your ambush.
Many people will react predictably in these situations, combined with a very low
time to kill, it lets you take advantage of the situation to turn the tides on an
otherwise outnumbered fight.
Thats the main thing with games like this, sure gear helps, aiming helps, but if
you can play smart, you can do some things without ever having to even engage another
player, and when you have to, you get to bait them and set up the fight in your favor
once you get a hang of what you’re doing.
Navy outposts with their SAS operatives can be a good way to grab some good amount
of loot quickly (if you survive the first 3-4 enemies). They are not the hardest to
defeat but once the closest operatives are dead the noise will attract more so it’s
best to get their good stuff fast. The reinforcements can be heard from a distance
because they tend to run a lot.
Seems like armour can be repaired quite cheaply so it’s always worth grabbing the
better stuff. Some ammo types are bonkers expensive so it’s just better to empty guns
if you don’t have space for full guns and grab the ammo out of them to then sell it
with lots of profit.
The free Luger and ammo are good way to make some extra scrap and 9mm hogging is
helpful if you have spare Stens.
Unlock small storage asap so you can fit all the extra stuff and open the ration and
first aid boxes once you need them. Once you have enough first aid stuff don’t be
afraid to take some small ones everytime you go raiding because they are literally
life savers.
What to Keep and How to Cheese Some Quests:
-------------------------------------------
Written by AueR
The short guide on what items you should keep to save some precious time later on!
-=Introduction=-
Hello guys.
I’m nearing the end of the first playthrough (lvl 45+) and I wanted to share some
useful tips condensed in one place, so You don’t have to lose time looking for
certain things everywhere else.
I’ve prepapred a list of hand-in items and useful tips for some “annoying” quests.
(the quest in-map locations and some overview on how to do these can already be
found on YouTube so I am not going to re-invent the wheel with that).
-=Contracts=-
Some of the possible hand-in items:
* 3x Transmitter
* 1x Nickel Ore
* 8x Copper Coin
* 1x Silver Coin
* 3x 1911 Stamp Pistols
* 3x Folded Light Bags
* 1x CA Intel
* 1x Golden Miner’s Ring
* 3x Metal Sheet
* Zero to Hero
-=Hand-in items (in chronological order):=-
* 3x Junk Scrap
* 8x Metal Sheets
* 1x Silver Coin
* 5x Military Rations (from Ration Crate)
* 3x Biscuit Tins (Merchant Ship kitchen always spawn these)
* 3x M1 Flak Rigs (can be crafted)
* 9x Toolkit (dead miners on Asteroid Mine and Toolboxes everywhere)
* 1x Nuclear Material (found behind the locked doors on Asteroid Mine, Terraformer
and Spaceport/these are the doors, which require a Token to open, f.e.: Miner
Token for Asteroid Mine)
* 12x Methamphetamine (med bags, med crates)
* 5x Mosin Obrez pistols (can be crafted)
* 3x U.A Intel Document
* 1x Gold Bullion (typically found in Vaults, very rare)
* 3x Medical Crate
-=Items Required to Be Used in Quests=-
* 1911 Government (not stamp) pistols. You need to save them as they are pretty rare.
In one of the later missions you will have to kill 12 enemies (can be AI) with having
it equipped.
* Unlock recipe for Bowie Knife later on. You will need this knife equipped to kill NPCs
in later quest.
* Save Trenchguns. You can’t craft them/buy them and You need to kill 25 npcs/players
with it equipped.
* Save BARs and .300 ammo. Towards the end of the Zero to Hero there is a quest, which
requires You to kill 15 players with BAR. While BARs themsleves can be pretty easily
crafted, the ammo requires 1x Hi-Grade Gunpowder per 20 rounds, so crafting it will
be painful.
* Heavy Thompson/s. You can only find these in Vaults and Merchant Ship armory. You get
one as a reward for quest. Extremely rare item and You need to have it on You/use it
to kill 25 NPCs/Players.
-=Quest Protips=-
* All “kill x with x” quests can be done with any weapon You want. You just need to have
and X item equipped on You.
* Quest to kill 25 Commando Navy NPCs (only found on rare Capital Frigate spawn) with
Trenchgun is currently tuned/bugged and counts all NPC/Player kills (best advice is
to roll until You find Navy Outpost with S.A.S AI and just kill everything there).
* There is no point in completing all the annoying quests if You plan to prestige Your
account. Everything goes back to 0 and the exp is not that good. The fastest way to
reach lvl 50 would be a mix between doing some easier tasks/contracts and running
Navy Outpost, killing as many NPCs as You can and extracting. (can get up to 2k xp
per run).
-=The End=-
Hope You’ll find this mini-guide useful. Have fun and see You in space, where nobody
will hear Your screams, once I breach Your ship!
