Limited Imps System for Puzzles:

I’ll detail it for anyone who found themselves in the same situation:

* When you use all of your imps, they seem to regenerate, but on a 
  SPECIFIC spot, which is in the forest, in a screen between the 
  house with the trapdoor and the evil tree with the axe. You can 
  take up to two imps and when you use those two, well, you go back 
  to take two more, and so on.

I still think this presumably limited imps system for puzzle solving 
and saving is hideous, but let’s pretend it’s a puzzle to be solved 
and continue enjoying the game.
