Shotgun Melter Build for Veteran:
---------------------------------
Written by SimplyBlauw
This is a super simple build that just allows you to melt enemy
elites and hordes in seconds.
-=Prefered Class=-
First off you need to be a veteran to buff the damage of your shotgun
and gain benefit from using ranged weapons however any class has access
to the shotgun (I believe).
-=How to Unlock Shotgun?=-
* To unlock the shotgun simply play the game until you are LVL 7 to 9+
(That’s when I unlocked the shotgun)
* You can either get the shotgun through level up rewards or buying it
from the armoury.
-=Feats=-
* I recommend having the "At Arm’s Length" skill or the "Confirmed Kill"
feat for your first feat set.
* Your second featset can be used with "Sniper" or "Tactical Reload"
(The shotgun in this game has alot of range so the sniper feat is not useless)
* Third featset is best up to own choice as it doesn’t affect the build much.
* Fourth featset is best with "Unwavering Focus"
* Fifth featset is best with "One After Another"
* Sixth featset is up to preferance as all 3 feats have a good boost however
I personally prefer "Crackshot"
-=Extra Info=-
* Melee doesn’t matter much so any melee weapon works in this build
* Ammo economy for the shotgun is good however constant use does make it bleed
ammo (aka use melee on small hordes and shotgun on elites and large hordes).
Greedy nubbin teammates also have a factor in this.
* First time writing guide so might be a bit hard to read but just felt like
sharing this build.
How to Beat Trappers:
---------------------
Tips to Resist Trappers
* Nets are not that hard to dodge, as long as youre not in an very restrictive
hallway (which I might add there are a bunch).
* There even is a district sound when he is about to launch an net, if you hear
it and dodge to the left or right (without something blocking your dodge)
youre fine and wont get snatched.
* Surrounded by a mob? Well duh its not easy to dodge it. You could say the
same about the mutant, sniper, bomber and any other special really in that
case.
* Trapper nets can be discarded really quick (maybe 2-3 seconds).
* As a veteran you got a nade (or your gun).
* As a psyker, you got your ult and headpop and your gun.
* As Zealot, you got your nade and ult (to either dash into him for a kill,
or get the hell away).
* As ogryn, you got your very large melee range, your ult, and your gun
(any gun can stagger him).
He does have an confusing spawn-sound so its difficulty to hear him spawn at
times (the flamer has an electic clicking sound when he spawns, which sould
be the trapper sound but oh well).
-=Multiple trappers?=-
Well ofc they can screw an team up bad. Just like any double special really.
Double sniper? oh god. Double Bomber? say bye to shields. double Mutant?
Hope you have a lot of DPS.
If you want an trapper to be less useful, stay with your team more closely
and if you hear him spawn keep your CC abilities (ult, nade, gun) ready to
deal with him. If you see him, let it rip and get him down.
He is not fully quiet, he does talk a lot about "adding another to the
collection". A matter of just playing more games and watching out for what
his noises, voicelines and spawn sounds are,
A lot of specials have a situation where they are just absolutely annoying
as all hell.
Mutant near ledges. Dog/trapper in hordes. Flamer when youre in a corner or
hallway. Gunner in open fields, shotgunner focusing on shooting you. Bomber
when he camps behind out of bounce cover. Sniper when you are busy with
anything and cant find cover.
Its just part of how their kit works with the game.
-=For short on what to improve=-
* Stay more with the team to avoid hordes surrounding you.
* Learn his noises (voicelines while he walks, spawn-in sound, the sound the
net makes before it gets launched to dodge it).
* Learn what you can do against him before he even gets a chance to snatch you
(keep ready your ult, gun or grenade to CC him so he cant snatch you or
outright kill him)
There will be situations ofc where you simply cant do anything like that about
the trapper, but there are still 3 other dudes that can (potentially) do something.
And if a single trapper catches your whole team, then you all need to just be more
aware of the surroundings, it takes him 2 seconds once he saw someone to shoot him
then up to 2 seconds to pull in his target and 5 seconds to recover.
thats a lot of time.
Important note: I only mean a single trapper in this scenario, not multiple!
in case that was missed.
Guide to Unit Coherency:
------------------------
Written by Caedmon
How and why to maintain Unit Coherency with your Strike Team.
-=Unit Coherency Guide=-
1.Maintaining Coherency
Stay close to your team. That’s literally all you have to do.
-1: Don’t Wander Off
It’s really that simple.
* But I Want to Run Off Like a Small, Idiot Child!
* Don’t expect your team to care, notice, or otherwise put any effort into reviving
you if you are not within Line-of-Sight.
Likewise, don’t be surprised when the Director throws a Hound or a Trapper at you
and nobody comes to your rescue.
-=Why Unit Coherency Matters=-
Staying within Line-of-Sight of your Strike Team means you can react to what’s going on
with your team members. If you’re not around, you aren’t helping. If you aren’t helping,
you’re wasting a slot that would be better filled by someone that will be a team player,
or even a bot.
Maintaining Coherency increases your Strike Teams survivability. Many feats for each class
provide a buff or beneficial proc that will only activate for players in Coherency. If
you are not in Coherency with your team, you are reducing the overall effectiveness of
your Strike Team as a whole, and are not taking full advantage of your team members
abilities or your own.
Team members within Coherency regenerate Toughness. During large horde encounters, this
regenerative effect can mean the difference between surviving the encounter and a full
wipe. If you’re not in Coherency, not only are you not helping your team stay alive, but
you yourself aren’t benefiting from their Toughness regeneration and are likely to go down.
-=Just Stick Together=-
Stay with your team. Don’t wander off. Pay attention to your surroundings. Don’t rush
ahead or fall behind. Keep your head on a swivel and make sure you’re aware of what the
rest of your team is doing.
If you can manage to do this, you will be ahead of 99% of other players, and your
missions will go a lot smoother and result in wipes a lot less.
Have fun, and maintain unit coherency.
Out of Memory or How to Play with 8 GB of RAM Only:
---------------------------------------------------
Written by Paladin 90lvl
Use 10 GB or more (i’m using 16 GB) of virtual memory (pagefile).
-=Long Description=-
I encountered a problem – critical error with note: "Out of Memory". Game prerequisites
tells about 8 GB RAM at minimum graphic quality but "real" requirements of RAM is greater
than that. I had 7 GB of virtual memory and never encountered that problem with any other
game like Cyberpunk 2077 or others.
System tool "Resource Monitor" showed about 6 GB of memory used by Darktide, it is physical
(RAM) plus virtual memory, task manager showed 3-4 GB of physical memory used.
I tried to raise amount of virtual memory to 16 GB and it’s worked. Now "Resource Monitor"
shows me about 11 GB of memory used by Darktide.
P.S.
Another thing that helped me to gain couple of FPS is:
Change number of max_worker_threads to "max_worker_threads = 4" at:
[Your profile]\AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide\user_settings.config
Choose number of physical cores of your processor.
Early Tips:
-----------
Written by Stierheld
Just a far too early guide to not dying in the 41st (or is it 42nd now?) millennium.
-=Introduction=-
This are some preliminary and quite basic tips, to help people find their feet.
* If there’s a big monster, shoot the little ones first, then shoot the big ugly monster.
* Stay together. No, even more so, it regenerates your Toughness.
* Not kidding. Hold hands the whole way.
* There’s a little icon in the bottom left that shows how many of your teammates you’re
in coherency with.
* On tabletop, unit coherency is 2". Stay that close.
* Melee attacks regenerate toughness too, but not taking damage in the first place because
you shot the enemy at a safe distance is better.
* Speaking of which, you are going to take some damage (if you don’t, why do you need a
guide?), so regenerating toughness is important.
* Man-sized rats are a myth.
* If the enemies haven’t noticed you yet, shoot the closest ones first.
* Different Lasguns play differently, and often take more than one unit of ammunition per shot.
* Reloading removes the loaded clip first, so interrupting reloading leaves you with an
empty clip.
* Distance yourself from melee enemies, close with ranged ones, although the latter is dicey
for the shotgunner and flamers.
* If there’s only one way for the enemy to get in, there’s no way for you to get out.
* Psykers don’t need grenades, so be helpful and tag for those who do.
* Try not to dress like the enemy, it doesn’t help.
* Always assume the enemy can get behind you.
* The Beast of Nurgle has a swallow attack, so don’t get too close.
* There is no substitute for communication, but making the enemy’s head explode is close.
* If the boss is attacking you, evade, and let your teammates do the damage. Or reviving.
* Reviving is more important than killing, but sometimes you have to do some killing so you
can revive successfully.
* Similarly, play the enemy first, the objective second.
You can’t complete the mission if you’re dead.
* Don’t wander off on your own, even if your auspex tells you to.
* When you drop down, all drop down together.
* When in doubt, shoot. When in peace, reload. When in trouble, push and melee.
How to Change the Process Priority:
-----------------------------------
Written by Zeptomonkey
-=Intro=-
Hello everyone! iI know some people have an issue when they go to task manager and
try to set the priority but it comes up with an access denied message. I am here to
show you how to change it manually.
-=First=-
Type in the windows search bar at the bottom left of your screen "%appdata%" this should
take you to a list of folders in file explorer.
-=Second=-
Locate the folder named "Fatshark" click on it then click on the folder called "Darktide".
-=Third=-
Open the file named "user_settings" using a text editor such as "notepad", "sublime text",
etc.
-=Fourth=-
Find the line labeled "process_priority = "unassigned" " this changes the task manager
priority, you can use values such as "low", "belownormal", "normal", "abovenormal", "high",
and "realtime".
-=Fifth=-
Now all you have to do is save the file, close it and your done (you don’t have to set it
to read only).
Pro Tips and Tricks:
--------------------
Written by - OWLS
While playing I learned from others:
* Play the game as if it’s Skyrim: Take your time. Forget your team, enemies, objectives,
and everything else. You have stuff to look at.
* Take every pickup you see. No one else will need them. It’s debatable if they are even
really people.
* Never use medipacks, or anything else you grabbed in the previous step. You will get a
sense of satisfaction watching your team fail, plus I think the Emperor likes it if you
bring them back to the hub with the corpses of your team.
* You have access to ranged weapons, grenades, and a special ability, but the only weapon
you should ever use is your melee one, and the only buttons you must use are “W” and left
mouse. The rest will only slow you and your team down from getting that game over screen
we’re trying so hard to achieve.
* Pad your stats: No one can see them, but if you waste the team’s time killing enemies
while they wait in the drop-ship for the mission to wrap up, they will all think you are
the coolest person ever, and you might even get a QT3.14 bae out of it.
How to Fight Demonhost:
-----------------------
Writen by Eagle_I_am
Here’s some tips. So everyone would know how to deal with it and not be scared.
-=General=-
If DH spawned occasionally in hard situation, the guy aggroed it can run away from team,
and team can run away from him, so DH would disappear after one frag. But thats are
extreme measures.
Often DH summons also big horde. Most people die of little trash and not from boss
itself. So never put all your attention to one place. Anywahy, bosses chase one target,
everyone else must clear field and do damage. So just know your class and do what ever
you can best.
Ogryn with shield. Most easy solution, put door on ground and wait. This works even when
team are completely novices. Only bad is that ogryn needs to use mic to call team to do
something, he cant unpress shield button.
Anyone else can dance with DH long enough with good training. Despite DH attacks breake
block realy fast and insta burn toughness, he can be dodged. So dodge a lot. And better
do it on same small place, so teammates could actually hit it also.
Put medkit under feet of tanking teammete/yourself.
-=Weapons Part=-
* Most meele in general are more effective, than ranged.
* Special abilities of chain and power weapon do a lot of damage. Especially good is power
hammer. Zelot with decent (not true, any) power hammer with some effort can solo DH, like
he do all other bosses.
* Head. Lasguns are pretty pointy, so there is some opportunity to target head and do some
good damage. Especially when he starting to suck out poor victim.
* Bolter can do good damage in cost of big amount of ammo.
* Bleed, burn, soulblase. It can be stacked, renewed, and do a lot of damage in period of
time. So better have in pocket some option for this, if you want to fight bosses in
general also. Because of this I started to use bleed grenades on veteran instead of cheap
reaload, by the way.
-=Bad Weapons=-
* Plasma. In general bad vs bosses, because cant’ fire continiously.
* Zealot’s 75% toughness damage reduction. Toughness burns instantly.
* Devil Claw sword parry ability -> unlimited free block, spam it.
I found the one sword you can use to counter attack suprisingly work well blocking host
attack. You can just keep spamming it and you’ll last a lot longer for your team to down
it if you dont have a shield ogryn.
Have microphone be ready, set up, keys are binded
* Chat is buggy, slow and unreliant.
* Most probably you will need microphone for calling teammates in urgent situation.
* And dont use micro without need. As for me, it annoying a lot to hear a stranger with
bad english accent and bad noisy loud micro.
* Psyker’s ability to build peril instead of stamina while blocking.
* Works good. Even better with non-force weapon, because of lower peril generation.
Thunder hammer skip stun after powered strike.
* Stun may be completely removed, you character will not lose mobility, ability to block,
and also can power up next attack.
* After hit connects press 1 (choose meele weapon bind). Stun canselled. Then You may
block, dodge or power up next hit.
-=Full combo=-
* Charge -> Heavy -> 1 -> charge...
Basic Guide on Tagging:
-----------------------
Written by Edible Eyebrows
This guide will show you a basic guide on tagging, let’s check it out.
* Tagging and Pinging are essential gameplay mechanics for effective teamplay, especially
when in Quickplay with players who dont use comms.
* I’ll outline some basic rules and common mistakes to make your tagging much more useful
to the teamA Tag implies action
* When you tag an enemy, it signalling to your team that you need someone to do something about
it. I commonly see the advice to “tag everything” and I think this is outdated advice from VT2.
There are far far more taggable things in Darktide and its simply not useful to spam it at
everything, because if everything gets tagged then its hard to know when something is a priority.
For example if someone tags the giant Ogryn crusher in the horde it can only be understood that
someone needs it killed ASAP for some reason, if you’ve just randomly Tagged it you’ve created
a distraction as people will focus resources into it when it may have been better to focus on
clearing the horde first. we can all see the Ogryn, you dont need to show us!Dont tag things
that you are handling yourself.
* Since tagging implies action, don’t tag things moments before you blast their heads off- its
simply distracting as players will attempt to help you when you dont need it. Its far better
to tag targets that you know your allies have better gear to deal with. When your team knows
they can trust each other, you can tag one target and simply switch your attention to clearing
out others.
-=Tag obscured specials=-
Sometimes in a mass of poxwalkers it can be easy to miss a Rager in the mix, or a dog thats
doing zoomies. Tagging these helps your allies read their animations, making dodging their
moves far far easier.
-=Use the “go here” ping=-
Use it all the damn time. Often when a huge group of elites, or a boss spawns, you will have
cohesion broken as players are forced to be mobile to survive; its very easy to get split and
end up in un-rescuable situations. Use the “go here” ping to signal a rally point that players
will do their best to stay near.
Remember that if an ally places this ping, you can tag it which will make your character
vocally confirm that they agree with the order.
Quick Nice to Know Things for The Psyker:
-----------------------------------------
Written by TomOfFinland
In my opinion the Psyker is a really good class that can deal with basically everything
except taking damage.
You have crowd control options and you have a really good way of dealing with elites and
ranged units.
-=Here’s a few tips for the class=-
1.Psykers most important tool is their brain burst ability. This ability deals an insane
amount of damage and can one shot almost every special enemy type.
By holding LMB you can lock on to an enemy and the wait until the enemys brain pops.
One exceptionally important aspect of this skill is that it does not need a line of sight
once you have started charging the skill and you’ve locked on to your enemy.
This means that you can quickly lock on to a target (like a ranged enemy) and then hide
behind a cover and wait until you hear that BLOB sound.
You can also hold RMB to charge the ability in advance without locking on to an enemy. I
use this sometimes for example when I hear the dog coming at me. When I have LOS on the
doggo, I can instantly one shot it with the ability.
2.You can hold R key when you have the Brain burst ability active or your sword in hand,
in order to start cooling down your Peril-meter faster. This allows you to keep firing
brain burst from far away at important targets.
3. After each brain burst kill, you gain a Warp charge that gives you +3% damage increase
for 20s. You can stack four of these. That gives you +12% damage increase. Use this when
you’re going to fight tough enemies.
4. Using your ultimate ability (F key by default) instantly resets your peril-meter.
This means that you can molest your brain to 100% peril and then fire away your ultimate
in order to reset your peril and you can keep using your mighty brain again.
Heavyweight Penance Tips:
-------------------------
This tips is about how to get the heavyweight penance done for the ogryn.
Just solo it on damnation with the shield, ping pong between corners and keep pushing
in further. You’ll get Gone Bowling the same way.
It’s honestly way easier than some of the earlier ones like Friends Will Be Friends
(encourages really strange and inefficient gameplay).
Once you’ve gotten a grasp on how to get Heavyweight solo, then you’ll be able to easily
do the same thing to get “Don’t Stop Me Now!” on Heresy with 3 bots, but here you will
bring a Grenadier/Rumbler and grenade a couple Crushers / Ragers from range without
killing any, Bull Rush into them, kill them for Active refresh, and Bull Rush out.
Unlike Heavyweight though, this Bull Rush penance can happen very easily in normal gameplay
if you equip that trait. Heavyweight is a lot rarer since someone has to intentionally
pull 2 or more groups of Ogryns and also not kill them quickly, which doesn’t really happen
in normal Damnation play.
How to Get Rank 5 Blessings:
----------------------------
There’s 3 ways:
* From high tier Emperor’s Gifts. You can better your chances of receiving higher rated
items and better blessings by playing on Damnation with Higher Density and with
Conditions.
* From Melk’s Store. It’s a random chance he’ll have something good, but he IS able to
spawn items with level IV blessings.
* From upgrading weapons to Orange. It’s a small chance and obviously costs materials
but it’s another way to do it.
Wrack and Ruin Value:
---------------------
A lot of people still don’t believe Wrack and Ruin are worth the slot, but I think it’s
BiS (Best in Slot).
Just in case you are on the outside looking in, W&R hits everything in a 4 meter radius
of a BB’d elite or special with soulfire (like the Psyker ult that melts the screen) but
instead of waiting 30 seconds for an ult charge you can just do it again and again and
again.
The secret is: the harder your mission the more value you get out of it.
More stacked elites means more chances to stack SF.
I hope this info is useful, think about it next time you are BB’ing a Crusher surrounded
by hordes, or even other elites.
Tips to Bypass Bulvark:
-----------------------
* Two guns bypass this. Boltgun and Plasmagun.
* Plasmagun straight up ignores the shield, you can easily 2-3 shot a bulwark with a
plasmagun and it carries the added benefit of ploughing through bosses and anything
armoured.
* Boltgun staggers the Bulwark, buying you and allies valuable time to hit that thing
in the head while the shield is off to the side.
* Don’t have a boltgun or plasmagun, didn’t bring, or don’t want to use those guns?
That’s fine! Here’s my advice:
* Dodge slide backwards. No, seriously. Let that karker take a swing at you, dodge back
and aim for the head. Depending on the gun this should make it stagger in one or a few
shots, buying you more than enough time even on Damnation to kill that thing.
Tips for Defeating Orthus on Damnation / Hard Mode:
---------------------------------------------------
Psyker with shield is a big help. Basically shuts down the ranged boss and really useful
to limit the LoS of ranged mobs.
a good anti armor solution is a must. You need to be dealing with the flak ragers, crushers,
and maulers ASAP. For me, this was a combination of a braced auto (w/ chastise) and the mk15
eviscerator. Revolver specifically was not adequate.
Someone with stealth to pick people up is really helpful. Each boss will basically make it
impossible for one person each to do this, so there’s only ever one person who can res normally.
If they’re busy with a crusher or something, you just can’t do it. Being able to force the
res with stealth is really useful.
Focusing down the ranged boss is really useful as well. Once he’s dead, you stop getting
the poison gas floor phase and also just the lack of grenades really opens up the arena.
Someone should also be purposefully setting off (but avoiding) the grenades to clear space
as well. They never disappear on their own, so if they build up too much it can really hinder
your ability to move safely.
Guide to Fast XP and Ordos with Karnak Twins:
---------------------------------------------
Written by Valhorren
-=Fast XP and Ordos=-
In the Otrussian Offensive mission with the twin assassination, there’s an opportunity
to unlock a shortcut. By striking a bell at the beginning of the mission, you will be
immediately transported to the last fight with the twins. However, this means that
rewards in the form of resource chests will not be available, but this option allows
for quick farming of money and experience.
To unlock this shortcut, you need to sequentially strike a certain number of times at
each hidden bell in different parts of the map. After the required number of strikes,
a special sound will play, signaling that everything was successful. This is debscribed
in other guides for example: this.
So, for accelerated leveling, it’s preferable to have another player, as a closed party
can only be created with at least two players, which reduces misunderstandings with
teammates regarding what we’ll be doing. Or, alternatively, you can agree with them.
And what we’ll be doing is simply dying on difficulty 5.
* Spawned, hit the bell.
* Reach the bosses and die.
* Profit!
* Dying on difficulty 5 in the arena gives 2600 experience and 10000 ordo. If you enhance
your devices for a +10% bonus to experience and ordo, at level 24 with 3 relics, you
will be earning about 3.5k experience and 13k ordo in 3.5 minutes, which is quite good.
Of course, remember that difficulty 5 is only available from level 15, but if your friend
is a higher level, being the host, they can bring you there even at level 1. Until then,
just die on lower difficulties.
Use this strategy while the event lasts!
